Derek Carr (QB, LV) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Everybody hates Derek Carr. That's the only reason you can still find the Raiders QB available in more than three out of four Yahoo! fantasy leagues. Why? Because Carr has been great so far this season, even though Las Vegas' 3-2 record and overly-tight wins don't reflect it.

First of all, Carr is already past his bye week, which is nice as he'll put on 11 more consecutive starts if nothing terrible happens. Even with one fewer game than most of his fellow starters, Carr is the QB19 in total FP this season, and his average 19.0 FPPG rank 16th among QBs with at least five starts. Carr is currently boasting the highest completion percentage (min. 50 attempts) having connected on 128 of his 175 throws (Russell Wilson is second with 123-of-169 completions), which yields a 73 percent rate. He is 16th in passing yards, but one of only five quarterbacks with just one interception, and one of three (Ben Roethlisberger, Patrick Mahomes) with 11+ touchdowns to go with that.

Carr isn't risking the biscuit, sure, but what he's doing he's doing great. After scoring 13.6 fantasy points in Week 1, he's reached at least 15 in all next four games, and in three of those matches, he's scored 20+ FP topping at 25.0 in his last game in Week 5. Carr has also thrown a touchdown in each and every game he's played this season, and 2+ in four of his five.

The floor isn't below 15 points, and the ceiling is easily around 30. All in all, consider Carr your 20-FP-averager at the QB position, a more than nice streamer in one-QB leagues, and a must-add/must-start in 2QB leagues.

This week's matchup is tough (TB has the 5th-best defense against QBs), but after that Las Vegas will face the 5th-, 3rd-, 10th-, 17th, worst, and 11th-worst units in preventing fantasy points from QBs. Go ahead and let Carr carry your team to the playoffs.
