DeMarco Murray has likely been the bane of your existence if you own him in fantasy. After leading the league in rushing with the Dallas Cowboys last year, prior to yesterday's game against the Saints, Murray had rushed for a grand total of 47 yards as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles this season. Murray nearly doubled his season total with yesterday's performance, rushing for 83 yards on 20 carries and scoring one touchdown.
The question many owners are asking themselves is this: was Murray's performance yesterday indicative of things to come, or was it an anomaly?
The answer to that question isn't yet clear. Last week, Murray publicly lobbied for more carries and his wishes were granted yesterday with his 20 carries yesterday being the most Murray has received as a member of the Eagles to date. Whether or not he will continue to get those carries remains to be seen, especially with fellow Eagles running back Ryan Mathews running so well this season (Mathews has averaged 5 yards per carry this season, while Murray has averaged just 2.7 yards per carry).
Despite the fact Mathews averages nearly double the yards Murray averages per cary, Murray has out-carried Mathews in every game they have played in together this season. Despite yesterday's performance from Murray, if Mathews continues to perform the way he has to this point, perhaps Chip Kelly will look to Mathews to carry the ball more.
