BALLER MOVE: Monitor the situation and prepare a contingency plan
POSITIONAL VALUE: FLEX if he plays
ANALYSIS: Deebo Samuel Sr. surprised a lot of folks when he was an active participant at practice on Thursday. He then logged a full practice on Friday, too, but his official injury designation is still questionable going into Sunday's home game against the Patriots.

The Niners could choose to hold out Samuel one more week, especially since they are 10-point home favorites against the Patriots. However, they're now 1-2 on the season, and perhaps that's enough to create a sense of urgency for this team to play him, as they are already missing their top running back and best offensive lineman.
The real issue here is that this game is a 4:05 PM EDT start and you may not have other options in the late games to swap him out with if his status is still unknown when the 1:00 PM games kick-off.
If you happen to have another solid player, you can swap in from the late games and then just wait for the news and make the move. Otherwise, I don't think you can't start Samuel without a backup plan and risk taking a zero in your lineup. Move Deebo into your FLEX slot and monitor his status. Maybe we can get an update on his status before the 1:00 games - that would be the ideal scenario.
UPDATE: Samuel is expected to play in Week 4 against the New England Patriots
