A deal is reportedly “done” between the Atlanta Braves and L.A. Dodgers that would involve Juan Uribe and Alberto Callaspo, according to FOX Sports.
According to the report, the trade is only pending approval by the commissioner’s office. This happened hours after a report said that Callaspo had rejected the trade, but now it is being reported that he waived the right to reject any deal prior to June 15.
The two big names in the deal are Atlanta receiving Uribe and L.A. obtaining Callaspo. The deal would be a six-player trade that could see Trevor Cahill and/or Eric Stults as one of the other key pieces in the deal.
Callaspo has a struggling .208 BA with one homer and eight RBI. Uribe has a .247 BA but he lost his starting job at third base for the Dodgers this season. The trade could be used as another move down the road for either team.
The Braves expect Chris Johnson back this week and he will be the third basemen. Uribe could be his backup. Meanwhile, Callaspo will be a utility infielder who will be deep on the depth chart for the Dodgers.
