BALLER MOVE: Draft Target in Middle Rounds
ANALYSIS: After a sub par season in 2014 which ended in injury, Met’s third basemen David Wright is poised to have a bounce back season in 2015. Do not sleep on David Wright, as his current ADP of 96 is lower than the fantasy value he can return.
After a phenomenal start to his career, Wright’s offense has taken a dip in the past few seasons. Since moving from Shea Stadium to the spacious Citi Field, Wright has seen his power numbers diminished and has not looked like the same player that was hitting over 20 HRs earlier in his career. This year that is likely to change, and Wright's depressed ADP makes him one of our third base sleepers.
For the first time in a couple years Wright is fully healthy, no hidden injuries or ailing shoulders to weigh him down. With complements around him in the Lineup like Michael Cuddyer, Lucas Duda, and Curtis Granderson, Wright is primed for his first big season in a few years. In just 535 ABs last year, Wright hit eight HRs with 54 runs scored and 63 RBI. So far Wright has hit four long HRs in spring training, including one today, and finally looks to be getting his power back. Add in the fact that the Citi Field dimensions were improved yet again, and Wright can easily get back to 15-20 HR this year. The career .298 hitter can always be counted on for a solid average but this year look for his power numbers to make a decent jump.
