BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 37% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Despite turning 39 years of age in early April, David Robertson has found a way to stick around and pitch in the major leagues. The veteran has pitched for six different teams since 2021, and while that is a lot, if his services weren't in demand he would be sitting on the couch. Instead, he's pitched to a sub-3.00 ERA in four out of six stops and averaged more than a K per inning at all of them.
So far in 2024, the former All-Star has made four appearances, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out five over four-and-two-thirds innings. The righty also hasn't allowed a run to score. The same cannot be said for the Rangers' anticipated closer coming into the season, Jose Leclerc. Leclerc has made three appearances thus far (all non-save situations) totaling two-and-two-thirds innings and has given up six runs, with at least one run allowed in each appearance.

That should make Leclerc's hold on the closing job very tenuous, and Robertson's success is seemingly putting him in line for potential save chances. Robertson saved 20 games in 2022 and 18 in 2023, so he's performed well in that role recently. The veteran is available in over 60% of Yahoo leagues, and closing for a good Texas Rangers team would make him an appealing option. Pick him up in anticipation of taking over the role at some point, and he should help out with Ks along the way.
