David Price was the largest piece of a potential championship puzzle that Boston gathered this off-season. They figured both he and closer Craig Kimbrel were what they needed to give David Ortiz a final ring before he retired. The front office is obviously unconcerned about his postseason struggles, since they lavished that seven-year, $217 million contract on him. Price is likely to be the second lefty pitcher taken in drafts, behind that Clayton Kershaw fellow, around pick. 28-36 depending on strategy. He'll definitely benefit from supporting hitters like Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Ortiz, Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval. It's not the same as relying on the likes of Troy Tulowitzki, Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion, but he'll have leads in Boston. He instantly bolsters the starting rotation, with Joe Kelly, Rick Porcello and Clay Buchholz all slotting more where they should. Look for Price to win 18 or more games again and give you a solid E.R.A. and WHIP. Both his owners and David Ortiz will be smiling all season long.
