David Ortiz has three rings. He really, really wants to get a fourth one before he retires after the 2016 season. He could help the Red Sox and by proxy those who draft him in leagues that use the designated hitter. Whoever drafts him might get a really big steal... he has a lot of pride and he will definitely want to end his career on a very high note. Chances are good that he'll have another season of 30 or more homers and drive in over 100 RBIs. That would be four straight seasons of at least reaching those totals if he did. He's going to have a very solid lineup around him, with Hanley Ramirez, Rusney Castillo, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Pablo Sandoval and Jackie Bradley, Jr. all offering protection. He may not hit 37 homers like in '15, but it should be a good number. Sure, there's always the danger that he realizes that he's 40 years old and stops hitting. His larger body type might make for injury risk too, but that's largely mitigated by his not playing the field for much of the season. Drafting for the DH position is going to feel strange without him in '17.
