BALLER MOVE: Start in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: There's no reason to sit Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery when he's healthy and playing. Despite the Lions facing the stout Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 4, Montgomery has a great role in a run-heavy offense with one of the best offensive lines in the league.
While fellow running back Jahmyr Gibbs was expected to take over the leading role in the Lions backfield this season, Monty actually has 59 touches to Gibbs' 51, and three total touchdowns to Gibbs' two. Monty appears to have more of a role than was envisioned in this committee backfield.
The Lions scored a TD once on seven Red Zone trips in yesterdays game. They ran 13 passing plays to just 7 run plays, with the lone touchdown coming on a David Montgomery run.

Monty still has a great goal-line role, and the Lions' offense isn't even hitting on all cylinders yet. Montgomery could end the 2024 season as top-5 in rushing touchdowns, just like he did last season, and that alone makes him fantasy-relevant. He has 231 rushing yards through three games.
Montgomery also surprisingly has eight targets so far. He was targeted just 24 times in 2023 and is on pace to nearly double that number. He's caught all eight of his targets too. That gives a nice boost to his floor.
Montgomery should be a locked-in starter in all leagues.
