BALLER MOVE: Start In 10-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery has found the endzone in all three games since returning from injury. That includes last week's meeting with the Green Bay Packers, a game in which Montgomery had 15 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown.
There was some question about what Montgomery's role would look like after his two-game absence consider Jahmyr Gibbs had come on strong, but so far he's maintained a sizable role.
Over the past three games, Montgomery is averaging 13 carries for 87.7 yards and a touchdown per contest. That comes despite him playing 40% or fewer of the team's snaps in all three games.
The snap rate is slightly concerning, but it seems clear that when Montgomery is on the field, he's going to get touches. This week, he faces a New Orleans Saints team that has allowed the 10th-most rushing yards per game in the NFL this season. Fantasy managers should view Montgomery as a solid fantasy RB2 play with upside because of the current way he's being used. His ceiling is capped a little by a lack of pass-game usage, but his ability to find the end zone is a major plus.
