Dahl is one of the, if not the best, Rockies prospect right now. An outfielder that has some nice speed, he saw his 2015 cut into after his spleen had to be removed. I doubt that happens again. Dahl’s current bat seems to be a fantastic line drive/gap type hitter, but he isn’t down on the farm just mashing home runs so perhaps you haven’t heard much about him. He shows solid pitch recognition with the great contact that he makes, and the hope is that in 2016 he can take that approach and start to incorporate some power into the equation. The Rockies would probably like to see the plate discipline take a step forward, but Dahl doesn’t appear to be the kind of hitter that will ever post a 10% walk rate. That said, if the Rockies do end up moving another outfielder or try out Carlos Gonzalez at first base with success, Dahl could come up later this year to some relevance.
