BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE1
ANALYSIS: New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is one of the top weapons in the NFL. Unfortunately, he has struggled with injuries over the past few years. The veteran is the TE23 for the season, averaging 7.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He scored double-digit fantasy points in two of his final three healthy games before suffering a hamstring injury in Week 8.
Waller missed the next five games because of the injury. He returned last week in time for the first round of the fantasy football playoffs. The tight end had had four receptions on six targets for 40 receiving yards and six fantasy points despite playing less than 50% of the snaps.
The veteran faces the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Day. Philadelphia has surrendered 9.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends, slightly above the league average. After starting the year struggling to slow down tight ends, the Eagles have held them to only 7.7 fantasy points per game and zero touchdowns over the past month.
Fantasy players can trust Waller as a low-end TE1 because of his talent and situation. Yet, the veteran is far from a must-start TE1 this week.
