After months of disappointing fantasy performance, Darren Sproles bounced back and was one of the few positives for the Eagles in their blowout loss to the Buccaneers. With three catches for 38 yards and a TD, Sproles had his first productive fantasy game since Week 3. He remains most valuable in PPR leagues, but with Ryan Mathews now out for the Thanksgiving Day game against the Lions, Sproles offers some near-term upside to most fantasy players.
Sproles has been targeted the fourth-most times among RBs this season, but with only 32 catches on 54 targets, Sproles has the lowest completion percentage (63%) among RBs in the top 25 in targets. Sproles only has one rushing TD this season after putting up six in 2014. It is also concerning that both his 3.6 yards per carry and 7.4 yards per reception have declined to near career lows.
Right now what's important is that Mathews and Zach Ertz are out against the Lions (if the Eagles show up to play the Lions). DeMarco Murray will mainly be used in the run game, but Sproles should see enough touches to have a decent floor combined with some TD upside. While the Eagles and Sproles look to be on a greater decline, perhaps there will be some relief against the Lions. Consider Sproles a decent flex play.
