BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 29% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Darren Fells made it to this week's waiver wire pickups list of candidates just by a hair. That is normal, considering Fells's production has been widely consistent all season long and the scarcity of the tight end position. There are just not many reliable options out there to play weekly and people are finally realizing Fells constitutes one of the strongest ones.
Although Fells had a rough start to the year (back-to-back games with under 10 yards, only four combined targets and under two fantasy points in each), he came back for Week 3 in full-force to post 15.9 fantasy points to the tune of 49 yards and a score on five receptions. That kinda marked the start of this new Fells, as he suffered in Week 4 but during the two-week span from Weeks 5 to 6 he was able to rack up 89 yards on just eight receptions (nine targets) and score two touchdowns. All of that helped him reach 16.0 and 12.9 fantasy points respectively.
Back to the most recent game, Houston didn't have it easy against Indianapolis and Fells couldn't make the most of the game. And he couldn't mostly because he saw only a couple of targets. He hauled in both of them, though, receiving for 27 yards on the game, but ultimately just getting 4.7 fantasy points at the end of the day. That little stumble might help you as an owner, though, as perhaps some other GM in your league panicked and released him this week. Keep in mind, though, that Fells is one of only 10 tight ends this season to have at least three games of 12-plus fantasy points. If you are streaming the position weekly and find yourself with a hole at the tight end spot, definitely consider adding Fells no matter the size of your league if he's still available.
