BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 23% of leagues
ANALYSIS: There is no shortage of young and talented catching prospects that have made their way to the MLB (or very soon will) in 2020; from Sean Murphy, Tyler Stephenson, Joey Bart, Francisco Mejia, Daulton Varsho, and Reese McGuire, just to name a few. However, the one that stands out with both the talent and the opportunity to see a meaningful volume of AB is McGuire's Blue Jays teammate Danny Jansen.
Last season, Jansen was able to collect 347 AB for Toronto and, while he ended up with a disappointing slash of .207/.279/.360, he also produced an interesting mix of extra-base hits with 13 home runs, 12 doubles, and one triple through 42.6% hard contact and 17.4% soft contact. This season, as the Blue Jays are developing an entire lineup of young talent while dealing with the constant uncertainties brought on by the circumstances of this season, Jansen has taken 17 AB and produced a HR, four walks, four hits, and a .793 OPS behind 30.8% hard contact and 7.7% soft contact applied to 38.5% line drives and 46.2% fly balls. He became a top-100 ranked prospect after a fantastic season at Triple-A in 2018 where in which he hit for 12 dingers, stole five bases, and netted a .275/.390/.473 slash, so if he is getting the majority of playing time in Toronto over McGuire, Danny Jansen's talent is potent enough to make a considerable impact for the rest of 2020.
