Daniel Hudson is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for closers and saves in Week 9 (2024). Daniel Hudson is a good free agent waiver wire add for saves leagues.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

ANALYSIS: With Evan Phillips on the IL, Hudson is the de facto closer for the Dodgers for now. However, he could be used situationally and share the closer duties with lefty Alex Vesia. Since Phillips went down, Hudson has recorded only one save and has just two on the season. But he should be in line for more save opportunities over the next week while Phillips continues to heal.
Daniel Hudson #Dodgers recorded his second save of the season, firing a clean top of the ninth and striking out one against the Marlins' 3-4-5 lineup pocket. He threw 12 pitches (83.3 Strike%) and produced three whiffs (25 SwStr%). pic.twitter.com/4gxCjxpKd1

Hudson has pitched very effectively as a setup man this year, racking up 19 strikeouts over 18 innings and compiling a 3.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP. With saves in such high demand, Hudson is worth a waiver add in deeper leagues but the fact that his time as the closer will likely be short-lived caps his upside, and managers in shallow formats may want to sit this one out.
