BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 23% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Rangers are under .500 and expected to finish in the basement of the AL West for the third time in four years. They do have a few things going for them, however, one of which is the performance of Dane Dunning. Acquired from the White Sox during the offseason in the Lance Lynn trade, the former first-round pick has produced solid ratios (3.81 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) while striking out nearly a batter per inning.
Dunning made his MLB debut last season, showcasing a plus slider and decent fastball. This year, his changeup has garnered a whiff rate above 40% in limited usage. While his overall swinging strike rate is an unremarkable 9.9%, he ranks 12th among starting pitchers in called-strike percentage (minimum 25 innings) and boasts a 53.7% ground ball rate. Both SIERA (3.45) and xERA (3.50) suggest he's outperformed his actual results to this point.
The 26-year-old will face the weak Mariners lineup on Sunday and is a worthwhile streamer in all formats. He'll get Seattle again at the end of the month, though you may want to avoid using him for the starts in between against the Astros and Yankees.
