BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 28% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Miami Marlins starter Dan Straily is proving that last year's performance was no fluke. The journeyman earned back-to-back wins this past week and has allowed a total of seven earned runs in his last four starts. Most importantly, he is one of the biggest strikeout risers of the week with 14 punchouts in the last two games. Straily lowered his ERA to 3.38 with a 1.07 WHIP, making him worthy of a rotation spot in mixed leagues.
His nemesis has always been the long ball, but Straily is doing a bit better in that department at 1.17 HR/9 this season. He is a fly ball pitcher through and through, as evidenced by a 50.4% fly ball rate that is actually going up. He may be helped by the fact he plays in spacious Marlins Park now, as opposed to Cincinnati's homer-friendly venue last season. He still walks more batters than you'd like to see, but his strikeout rate is up to a career-high 24.6%, which is enough to help fantasy owners along with the aforementioned ratios. Straily has jumped beyond streamer status and can be added to deeper leagues for the long-term.
