ANALYSIS: The Jaguars acquired Dan Arnold in a trade a couple of weeks back, but they couldn't really throw him out there on the field for a ton of plays in their Week 4 outing against Cincy. With barely a few training reps under his belt, everything pointed to a "true" debut this past Sunday, and that's precisely what happened. And we love it as an under-the-radar play at a barren of talent position as the tight end one is.
Arnold only played 18 snaps in his first game donning Jacksonville's threads. Even then, he was still good to grab a couple of throws to finish with a 2-2-29 line back then at Cincinnati. Then, Sunday happened and Arnold had his first TE1 finish of the year thanks to a -6-of-8 catching day for 64 yards on those receptions. Darnold finally played a proper amount of snaps (52) while logging a snap share above 53% since his Week 1 outing still in Carolina.
The Jags traded for a tight end for a reason. James O'Shaughnessy got injured after Week 2 and was put on IR. The rest of the Jags at the position pretty much stink, so it made sense to move for Arnold. Don't get this wrong, though. Arnold is pretty much a streaming option and until he proves his worth as a Jaguar for a couple of weeks straight he shouldn't be on shallow-league fantasy GMs' radars. That being said, no problem in rostering and playing him in deeper formats.
