One of the biggest questions heading into fantasy football drafts this season is when the right time is to grab a tight end. Some might say it's important to grab Sam LaPorta, who currently has an ADP of 21.4. Others might say it's best to wait on a tight end.
If fantasy managers choose the latter approach in drafts, they could settle on targeting Dallas Goedert or Dalton Schultz in the later rounds. Both tight ends are going outside the top 100 currently in drafts.
So, is Goedert or Schultz the better pick in fantasy drafts in 2024? Let's dive in and find out.

Dallas Goedert 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
At this point in his career, managers know what to expect from Goedert in fantasy. He'll be a low-end TE1 who will miss some games along the way. Last season, the Eagles tight end finished as the TE14 in PPR formats while playing in 14 games. He also averaged 9.7 PPR fantasy points per game.
#Eagles TE Dallas Goedert gets overlooked due to having two great WR’s on his team. Is Dallas Goedert one of the best TE’s in the NFL? 🤔

Fantasy managers can expect a similar fantasy season for Goedert in 2024. He'll remain a key part of Philadelphia's offense while likely being the third option in the passing game -- only behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The 29-year-old will have some big fantasy days but also some games with less involvement. Overall, though, he'll have high-floor, low-ceiling potential this season.
Dalton Schultz 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Like Goedert, Schultz has been a low-end TE1 over the past two years, finishing as the TE11 in 2022 and the TE10 in 2023. With C.J. Stroud's breakout campaign as a rookie, the 27-year-old benefited from that greatly and produced solid fantasy numbers.

However, things have changed in Houston's offense since 2023. While Stroud's numbers should only improve after a strong rookie year, the Texans did add Stefon Diggs this offseason. That could take a handful of targets away from Schultz this year. Tank Dell is also expected to be back following his season-ending leg injury last year. So, there might not be many chances for the tight end to build on his 59-catch, 635-yard season.
Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
In the ninth or 10th round, fantasy managers can't go wrong with either Goedert or Schultz in drafts. Both tight ends should be reliable low-end TE1 options in 2024. Nonetheless, the Eagles' tight end might be the safer pick. He has less competition for targets on offense, and that safe floor could come in handy on most weeks.
