The NFL is full of talented quarterbacks. However, Dak Prescott and Kyler Murray don’t get the credit they deserve, especially among fantasy football players.
While the veterans aren’t worthy of an early-round pick in single-QB leagues, Prescott and Murray have been two of the more consistent fantasy football quarterbacks the past few years when healthy.
However, which quarterback should fantasy players draft first in 2024? Let’s take a look.

Dak Prescott 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Prescott was the QB3 last season, averaging 20.2 fantasy points per game. He led the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns and finished third in yards with 4,516. The veteran quarterback started the year slowly, scoring fewer than 14.4 fantasy points in four of his first five contests. However, Prescott was outstanding coming off the bye week, totaling 20.3 or more fantasy points in all but four games.

The Dallas Cowboys should be one of the most pass-happy teams in the NFL this upcoming season. CeeDee Lamb is one of the top wide receivers in the league. Meanwhile, Jake Ferguson and Brandin Cooks are solid role players. More importantly, the Cowboys have arguably the worst running back unit in the NFL, led by Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle. Therefore, fantasy players should expect Prescott to be among the league leaders in pass attempts.
Kyler Murray 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Murray missed half of the 2023 season recovering from a torn ACL he suffered the year before. However, the former No. 1 overall pick was the QB9 on a points-per-game basis among quarterbacks with at least eight starts last season, averaging 18.3 fantasy points per game. He had a higher fantasy points per game average than several big-name quarterbacks, including Justin Herbert (18) and Patrick Mahomes (17.5).
While Murray is a talented passer, the veteran quarterback is a significant rushing threat. Last year, he had only 244 rushing yards, a career-low. That said, Murray had at least 418 rushing yards every other season of his career, including 540 or more twice. He has a talented young receiver corps led by Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride and should have another top-10 finish this year.

Which Quarterback Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
Fantasy players should jump at the chance to draft either veteran quarterback. However, Prescott should come off the board before Murray. The Cowboys will throw at a higher rate than the Cardinals because of a lack of running game. More importantly, Prescott has a top-five wide receiver, while Murray is throwing to a pair of young pass-catchers. Both quarterbacks are top-10 guys, but Prescott has more upside.
