Welcome to the May 6th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the May 5th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Giancarlo Stanton's (eighth HR) foreign policy. "Walk softly & carry a big stick."
- Trea Turner sippin on that Seven & Seven. Delicious. Ah, those were the days. (Seven HR/ Seven SB).
- Trey Mancini (sixth HR) takes a moment to boost the donation to cancer charity: $60.
- Sonny Gray & Co two-hit the Chicago White Sox. Completely overshadowed by a no-hitter. C'mon, it's just a difference of two measly hits.
- John Means expresses his dominance over the Mariners. Yes, it was a No-Hitter. Yes, it was the Mariners.
- Well aren't you picky? Scoff your nose at Paul DeJong's seven long balls because of a measly .190 AVG.
- I heard George Springer & Christian Yelich came to the party. Where they at? They leave already?!
- William Contreras always tagged along, now he's dropping off his own souvenirs.
- Brandon Crawford is tired of lurking in the corner. At least now he's doing it while enjoying tiny burger combo meals. 3 HR, 1 SB, .412 AVG in last 7 games.
- J.D. Martinez (10) reaches the hilltop, puts his hands on his hips and enjoys his first breath of solitary triumph. "It's nice up here, right" ~ Ronald Acuna.
- Aaron Judge is out here engineering wind-powered turbine energy.
- Can I get a pulse check? 3 HR, .258 AVG from Marcell Ozuna is not getting them excited.
- Catch him, he's fallin'. Miguel Cabrera down to 0.98 AVG.
- Ok, so Matt Carpenter has hit .273 over last seven games. Should he hit second though?
- Max Fried returns (5 IP, 1 ER, 6 K). How rude of Yan Gomes (three) to crash the party.
- Ramon Laureano is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. 4 HR, .370 AVG in last 7 games. So nice. **Stop asking about the SB!!**
- Hyeon-Jong Yang bustin a move. 3.1 IP, 1 ER, 8 K. 화이팅!!!
- Josh Naylor w/ second HR and first SB. Here's a coupon for a free combo meal.
- Am I frustrated when I see no SB from Myles Straw but he had a BB & a hit?
- Jonathan Villar hit a homer. Now I need a shower.
- He doesn't like to write much thus far, but Brandon Lowe sent out his fifth love letter.
- I don't think Didi Gregorius (four) expected a Grand Slam breakfast when he showed up to the restaurant. Freddy Peralta (4 IP, 5 ER, 8) served it anyway.
- Avisail Garcia 4-for-4?!
- Shohei Ohtani is a man of the people. He taketh (Seven K) and he giveth (Sixth BB).
- This is what you expected in 2020. Much cheaper now. Bryan Reynolds w/ third HR, .291 AVG.
- My Man!! J.T. Brubaker keeping up w/ Yu Darvish against much better competition.
- Oh, you saw that? Jake Marisnick w/ four moonshots, 24 R+RBI, & .297 AVG in the last 15 games.
- Jordan Montgomery wasn't sexy (6 IP, 3 ER, 4 K), but it was HOU. Next week though: TB & BAL.
- Update: Nobody has gotten Matt Duffy to stop hitting. 3-for-4.
- Chris Bassitt gets no respect. 7 IP, 2 ER, 7 K. 3.72 SIERA
Endgame
- Daniel Bard (three)
- Alex Reyes (nine). My ignorance on full display. Didn't believe in this your man.
- Will Smith (six)
- Aroldis Chapman (seven)
- Jose Alvarado (two)
- Michael Fulmer (one)
- Kenley Jansen. BS. Three BB. Uh-oh.
- Ian Kennedy (nine)
- James Karinchak (three)
- Mark Melancon (11)
- Jeffrey Springs (two)
- Lou Trivino. Please Make the bad man stop. 0.1 IP, 5 ER.
Closing Thoughts
- Today we learn something new. Pick up a book. Read an article on the internet. Find a new topic instead of staying in the rut of everything you think you know. Don't forget that family, friends, and even strangers have expertise that you can learn from. You just have to be able to receive. Yes, that means talking to people. Get out there and work on YOU.
- Have a great Thursday.
