Welcome to the Saturday, August 31st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 31st. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- To all those that gave up on Nicholas Castellanos so easily. We salute you with two moonshots.
- Be real quiet. The Michael Conforto(28) hunts for the big 30. No, not the one on his back. This isn’t Loony Toons.
- David Bote returns. 2-for-2. 2% owned. Keep an eye on him.
- We are all excited that Kyle Schwarber lightened the load and now the AVG baggage sits at .230. 32 taters.
- Corey Dickerson is tired of waiting on you. 2HR, 12RBI, .387AVG in last week.
- .38 Special. Jorge Soler fires another shot.
- Aaron Nola marvelous as ever. 21.6%K-BB in August. LSU Pride!!
- More pitchers finding success vs Brewers. Jose Quintana continues his hotness.
- What in tarnation are you doing? You’re willing to risk it all by putting Max Scherzer on the base paths?
- “Matt Chapman gives power but he doesn’t steal bases.” Watch your tongue. He now has ONE!
- Marcus Semien is having a career year, even with two short in both HR & RBI.
- George Springer smokes a 463ft stogie(29). Will he go under-drafted in 2020?
- Shane Bieber takes the L. 6.1IP, 3ER, 9K isn’t too bad at all.
- Kyle Gibson couldn’t make it a respectable W vs. Tigers. 5IP, 4ER, 5K. At least it’s a win.
- Guess who is heating up. C.J. Cron (30% owned). 10R, 4HR 15RBI, .278AVG last 15 days.
- Where are all the lucky Max Fried owners? 15 Wins! Domino!!!
- Mark Melancon gets a cheap one-out save. 60% owned. Chances somewhere if you’re desperate for opps.
- Mallex Smith tries to soothe your AVG frustrations with another SB.
- Kolby Allard picks up third W. More SwingingStrikes(8.9%) would be nice.

- Josh Bell getting his groove back w/.333AVG last week.
- Josh Rojas gets first big-league long ball. We’re still waiting on that big run.
- Tony Gonsolin with a serviceable start. He looks to stay in the rotation, which has tons of value.
- Mookie Betts provided two drum solos in the air tonight. (23).
- J.D. Martinez keeps moving along. He might actually hit 40 and people will wonder how.
- Brandon Belt(16) & Mike Yastrzemski(18) provides all the fireworks for the Giants.
- Have a great Saturday. Enjoy the weekend. Baseball, football, BBQ.
