Welcome to the July 30th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on July 29th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Nasty Casty! Nick Castellanos loves his bacon like he likes his cowhide. Crispy! Grand Slam w/ extra bacon!
- One scoop of Ohtani Joy, please.
- Cheetos & Takis - Mike Moustakas bringing that spicy flavor off the IL (second tater).
- Don’t come out too strong, Corey Seager (first HR). People will jump on the bandwagon. Yes, I know you’re still leading the 95+ mph exit velo. I’ve told people since day one.
- Trent Grisham’s second chapter of his novel equally as riveting. 401 ft.
- Trevor Story w/ two HR/ two SB in five games. We haven’t even enjoyed the Taste of the Rockies yet.
- Zach Plesac is not who we thought he was. (8 IP, 11 K). In Cinci next.
- Nate Pearson was so dreamy, chillin’ at 95-97 mph. 5 IP, 5K. ATL next. Eeesh.
- German Marquez flaunts skills. Two road games = 1.54 ERA (2.77 FIP). Damn you, Coors!
- Christian Yelich w/ 42.9% K rate. Sometimes expectations becomes overwhelming. Let’s pretend he’s just a regular dude. He’ll be fine.
- Big streamer Danny Duffy looked good until the fifth. (5 IP, 4ER, 8K). Not bad though.
- Any Cavier for the high society? Cristian Javier stuns LAD. 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 8 K. Get your FAAB bucks ready. Don’t go too crazy though.
- Tigers don’t get to face their own pitching but there’s is plenty of beautiful matchups on their calendar. Jonathan Schoop (2), C.J. Cron, JaCoby Jones (3), Victor Reyes, & Christin Stewart will surprise this year.
- Raise your hands if you’re giggling from the Freddie Freeman discounts you received. First souvenir.
- Kyle Hendricks is like that new rollercoaster. You know, the one called Gut Punch. 4.1 IP, 6 ER, 3 K.
- He’s trying to rename the building already (second HR). The Gallo-Dome.
- Keston Hiura’s elbow injury not bothering him one bit. (2nd long ball.)
- THUNDAH! Aaron Judge clobbers his first long ball. Epsom salt & Ice.
- Is the season long enough for Andrew Benintendi to get into a groove (.105 AVG)
- Bo Bichette missed another game. It is frustrating to lock in a guy already injured to start the week. But…Moose. Quiet…this is my storyline.
- There’s too many haters out there. Don’t argue w/ them. Nick Senzel don’t listen. He just wants to give ‘em something to talk about (HR).
- No! No! No! Kyle Tucker, four strikeouts does not wooo crusty Dusty Baker.
- Gerrit Cole gets a puff matchup. Cruised through O’s, despite three ER.
- Shogo Akiyama w/ 71.3 mph avg exit velo on LD/FB. Base hits or bust.
- He’s still healthy and hitting long balls. Yoenis Cespedes (two).
- Mike Yastrzemski hit two HR, but only 41% owned. Must be a lot of small leagues out there.
- How many people freaked out when Aaron Hicks (1 HR) left the game?
- The Rays need Meadows badly. Manuel Margot isn’t cutting it.
- Is the weight slowing Miguel Sano down?
- Oooh-la-la. AT&T Park now allows homers. Six last night. Get your Giants. All the Giants players. (Scratch-n-sniff here for that new sarcasm smell) Yes, I know it’s called Oracle.
- You the man, Sonny Gray.
- Lance Lynn bringing that 24.4% K/BB%. This is why he was a target.
- Did someone try to say there would be less steals in 2020? Players want to play. With no crowd, the game gets all their energy.
- Nick Solak snags two.
- Two SB from the catcher spot. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is such a kind fella.
- Dansby Swanson w/28.7 ft/sec wheels. He’s got 10/10 in mind.
- Early season Chase Monsters!!!
- Jose Peraza - 57.9%
- Jonathan Schoop - 54.4%
- Amed Rosario - 51.6%
- Eduardo Escobar - 50.9%

- Endgame status:
- Brad Hand. Rule of Ones. 0.1 IP, 1H, 1 ER, 1 BB. Oh, no K. Struggles continue. James Karinchak w/ unquestionable stuff.
- Joe Jimenez. Another chance. Another save (four).
- Anthony Bass held the ninth of tie-game. Hudson held the line on the opposite side.
- Alex Colome looked like a TIN ROOF. RUSTED! 1 IP, 2 H, 1BB.
- Josh Hader. One and counting.
- Mark Melancon.
- Oliver Drake in 6th. ATL made it rough.
- Nick Goody (1). Leclerc w/ tight shoulder. Hmmm.
- Ian Kennedy in seventh?
- Brandon Workman. 30-pitch save (1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K). Ugh. Maybe it’s Heath Hembree time.
- No one is perfect. Seth Lugo coughs one up in seventh.
- Taylor Rogers. There he is.
- Dan Altavilla. Don’t even think about it. Wait on Yoshihisa Hirano.
- It’s way too early to take any action based on some of the early statistics. It is definitely fun and useful to see if they maintain or move up/down.
- Have a great Thursday. Take care of yourself. Reach out to a friend, new or old, just to say hi.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
