Welcome to the July 29th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on July 28th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

- No se, Jose. People didn’t want your power on draft day. Show some gratitude for Abreu’s first homer.
- Javier Baez provides two tickets to paradise.
- Nick Castellanos (60.9%) doesn’t have his normal contact rate yet, but he got enough for first tater.
- Yonny’s concert was short & sweet. Chirinos w/ 4 IP, 0ER, 4K. Orchestra next meets in BAL.
- Wright…..wasn’t.
- Brew-crew lineup just feels better w/ Lorenzo Cain at leadoff.
- Sshh. Jorge Polanco has taken a moment to grace us….w/ a little bit..of….THUNDAH!!!!!
- Steady at-bats & power. Jonathan Schoop can help, starting w/ 442 ft. monster jam. Even KISS would be impressed.
- Tommy Edman, we want speed. No, of course, we appreciate the homer. Ok, ok. We’ll be patient.
- Now Whit Merrifield is just showing off. Two straight games w/ homers. Both in Comerica. Man on a mission.
- That is why J.D. Davis is batting cleanup. Wait. What’s the shortest homer in 2020? Is 328 ft competitive?
- Dylan Cease is what we actually wanted after 2.1 IP, 4ER.
- Shogo Akiyama w/ 6.8% SwingStrike rate. He’ll come around. Don’t fret yet.
- Uh-oh. Will David Peterson (5.2IP, 2ER, 3K) soak up a lot of FAAB this week?
- We told you he had power & speed. Tyler O'Neill smacks second HR. 29.9 ft/sec sprint speed. Only 4% are enjoying it.

- Tanner Roark with the win?! Hold on, I need a second.
- Young Blue Jays bats waking up. No, no Bo Bichette’s. He’s with his hammy.
- It was a daunting task, Carlos Martinez. DET next might be better.
- Can your team swallow the supposed AVG drain? Rouged Odor w/ quick medicine (1st HR).
- Pinch hit… Abraham Toro …for… Kyle Tucker. We knew this would happen. Is it Emotional Masochism or Definition of Insanity?
- Pick up your jaw. Joey Gallo's 27.7 ft/sec sprint speed got him that SB
- Merrill Kelly (7IP, 1ER, 7K). Congrats. *Psst, maybe we should stream vs. TEX more often*.
- Sam Hilliard presents his first long ball, an Oaktown salute. Please, COL, don’t draw me back into your playing time kerfuffle.
- Anthony Rendon….Worth waiting for.
- Albert Pujols can still get down like the young’ns.
- Fernando Tatis Jr. (one HR) builds the excitement. Oh, that’s why you chose him sixth overall. I was curious.
- Mallex Smith owners rejoice aloud of his first SB…trying to compartmentalize the .067 AVG.
- Don’t know if they brought the right tires to the race (CS): Trea Turner, Ozzie Albies

- Nick Burdi-time. Of course, 53% of pitches were balls. Against the bottom of the lineup. C’mon, Man!
