Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the April 21st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the April 20th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Matt Olson (four) orders a FrappaCappaMochaChinoLatte Grande & Slams it down.
  • "On board, he's the Captain; so climb aboard; We'll search for homers, on every shore..." Jose Abreu captains us to two beautiful finds. (458 ft & 402 ft)
  • Cron-an The Barbarian w/ an advanced first viewing. Coming to a theater near you.
  • Trey Mancini's (four) long-distance love letter bumps up my donation to cancer charity: $40
  • Tim Anderson (third HR) & Luis Robert (third SB), this is not a tag-team event. You do not get a combo meal. No! You can't even share one.
  • No Slack Solak! Fourth branding of the cowhide.
  • Carlos Rodon is such a nice guy. To commemorate his no-no, he handed out 5 free fast passes...to go with W, 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 K. So nice.
  • Julio Urias w/ a quick trip to 7-11. Get that wild cherry slurpee. (7 IP, 11 K)
  • Corbin Burnes (W, 6 IP, 10 K) is stingy. No fast passes, not even for the kids. 0 BB in 24.1 IP.
  • Jose Ramirez opens it up on the open basepaths from time to time. He likes the wind blowing through his hair. (fourth SB)
  • A 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 K outing for Chris Paddack is a success.
  • Was it a David vs Goliath moment....Sean Manaea vs Twins. (7IP, 1 ER, 7 K)
  • Maybe the Twins were tired from the travel. NO! Jesus Luzardo, like Manaea, earned this W. (5.1 IP, 1 BB, 6 K). Sheer dominance. Don't diminish the
  • If you're not bringing home the bacon...or cooking it, you need to at least help with the cleanup. Third SB for Dylan Moore.
  • Elvis Andrus knocked the rust off (two SB).
  • Bo Bichette leading the SS homer party. You may be asking yourself..."Will he be the first SS off the board in 2022."
  • Matt Shoemaker (3.1 IP, 5 ER, 4 K) wasn't having a going out of business sale. Mitch Moreland (two HR) just had major coupon stacks.
  • Yes, Mr. Charlie Morton your cards (6 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) are better than Mr. Jameson Taillon's (5 IP, 1 ER, 5 K), but neither are winning hands.
  • "Look up to the skies & see; I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy.....because any way the wind blows doesn't matter to me " ~ Freddy Galvis (second HR)
  • Has Patrick Corbin alleviated your concerns? (6 IP, 5 K) No? Tough crowd.
  • Josh Bell rings it for his first homer.
  • Mike Trout respects his elders, showing Albert Pujols the way....towards THUNDAH-land! 5th & 2nd, respectively.
  • Never underestimate experience and wisdom. Adam Wainwright w/7 IP 1 ER, 10 K. Only 9% changeup usage kept it from being a five-pitch mix.
  • Alec Bohm sent that one to Omaha, somewhere in middle America. (Second HR)
  • When does Dom Nunez (four taters) get all the playing time?
  • Xander Bogaerts finally found the right key...first long ball.
  • Telegram! Telegram! Buster Posey (four) still patrolling the wild west w/ his two pistols.
  • He continues to adjust his elevation. 31-degree launch angle. "Shot, over!" ~ Rhys Hoskins (three) w/ 431-ft projectile.
  • Connor Brogdon gives your roster a little more than an upset tummy. (0.2 IP, 6 ER)
  • Remember the lack of faith in Randal Grichuk. Second postcard...To: All my good friends. From: The cleanup hitter.
  • Jake Arrieta resurrection continues. (5 IP, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K). MIL/CIN next.
  • Austin Meadows (fourth HR) & Brandon Lowe (second HR) is not the kind of store you're thinking of.
  • Color me confused...Marco Gonzales vs LAD (7 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) & Jon Gray (6 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) vs HOU..in Coors.
  • Zach Plesac (5 IP, 6 ER, 4 K) might be a little masochistic. No judgements.

Swing & Misses

Endgame

Closing Thoughts

  • Have a great Wednesday. Take time today to make someone else smile. We don't have to be selfish all the time. You might be surprised. The act of helping others or bringing joy to others might actually make you feel good.
  • (No Fear, Just Fantasy)
