Welcome to the August 1st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on July 31st games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Yu Darvish dominance continues. Six IP, seven strikeouts. KC next. Ha! You better bring the sunshine band too.
- Isn’t it great to be home? Charlie Blackmon (one HR) and Trevor Story (three HR) set off the Coors festivities.
- Jordan Montgomery cruised through BoSox. 1.59 ERA, but 5.03 FIP. If he maintains 50% GB rate, Camden might be a piece of cake.
- Aaron Judge adds another souvenir for some lucky young camera person.
- What is you doing, Giancarlo Stanton (CS)? Someone escort G.S. back to the ice chamber.
- Dansby Swanson tries on the second spot w/ Ozzie Albies out. It looks good on you, especially when you add a SB.
- Undervalued Ender Inciarte snags a bag as well. (3% owned).
- You wake up to a boxscore of 21 runs, excited that your fantasy players had a great night. Nope, wrong guys.
- Combo Meal! Yep, the same Hanser Alberto we talked about yesterday. 2% listened (up to 10% ownership).
- THUNDAH!!! Yep, he’s still batting cleanup. Colin Moran(4). 36% owned. What’s different? 96 mph AVG Exit Velo.
- Anthony Santander’s 45% Fly Ball rate is made for Camden. First long ball.
- Blake Snell up to three innings. No walks this time, but three ER. Baby steps. Oh, you don’t have time for baby steps? You shouldn’t have drafted him then.
- Adalberto Mondesi with his first five-finger discount of the season. Don’t be sad about .206 AVG. At least it isn’t Mallex Smith’s .059 AVG.
- Pssst, Yasmani Grandal. The people are waiting. You’re shy? It’s ok. We’ll wait patiently….staring at a .118 AVG.
- Mike Clevinger’s Master lock code is 4-4-5-5. It stands for IP, ER, BB, K. I know. He should get a new lock.
- 1% owned. So someone is waiting on Jordan Luplow’s first hit. Ouch.
- Du hast mich, Max Kepler. It appears we went to the same school, just many years apart. Ok, reminiscing done. Danke for the third HR.
- Randy Dobnak with the serviceable W. 68% GB rate. Only 3% owned. He would get PIT next if Jake Odorizzi doesn’t return.
- Tommy Pham (one HR/five SB) & Fernando Tatis Jr. (two HR/three SB) go out for lunch. One wants Crystals, the other wants White Castle. They both get COMBO MEALS!!!
- Josh Bell rings it for his first homer.
- Grisham novel continued: In our last episode, Beaux’s gesture stole Josephine’s heart with his spontaneity. Today, it was Josephine’s almond-shaped eyes that stole him from his current reality.
- Tucker-Power. Unite as One! I know, not catchy. Both stole bases. Cole and Kyle (3-for-5, four RBI).
- Both Alex Bregman & Jose Altuve hit by pitches. Stand by, Matt Andriese & Noe Ramirez for your eight-game suspension. That’s right, you actually hit them. Ooooh, that’ll cost you.
- J.P. Crawford & Tim Lopes giving team something to cheer about at top of lineup.
- Donovan Solano w/ .458 AVG. Hmmm, he doesn’t have a singe BB in 25 PA. Old man isn’t here for the patience.
- HAHAHAHA! Mike Minor gets the Giants. 5.2 IP. 6 ER?!?! I know, not funny if you rostered him.
- Zac Gallen was too smooth vs LAD 6 IP, 2 ER, 9 K. Doesn’t get easier w/ HOU next.
- YES! RISE UP (to the fifth spot)! Corey Seager (third HR) shall not be denied. The champ continues w/ 19 x 95+ MPH hits) & seven Barrels.
- Endgame
- Seth Lugo (BS) & Dellin Betances crumble. “Can’t blame it on me.” ~ Edwin Diaz.
- Raisel Iglesias. Does he hate Joe Jimenez or what? Gave up a couple of runs to remove the opportunity.
- Cole Sulser w/ clean outing.
- Trevor Rosenthal/Greg Holland? Who knows. That Rosie heat is still dreamy.
- Alex Colome.
- Taylor Rogers. (#2)
- Kirby Yates tried to make it interesting (two ER). Pomeranz gets one-out save.
- Craig Kimbrel. Bleh. Wick kept it clean though. Hmmm, Rowan Wick or Jeremy Jeffress?
- Wade Davis. 0.2 IP, 4 ER?! Holy Ratio Crusher! We don’t want pitchers at Coors, but you drafted Davis?
- Some Andre Scrubb picked up a save for the Astros.
- Taylor Williams (two). Still don’t think he’s the guy.
- Archie Bradley is the guy.
- Have a great Friday everyone. Take a breath and enjoy things that come your way. Give someone a Win.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
