Welcome to the Wednesday, June 5th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on June 5th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Rule of Threes
- Robinson Chirinos w/three-straight HR days
- Pedro Severino w/three HR in a game
- Franmil Reyes w/three HR in 2 days
- Brian Dozier hit by pitch and Howie Kendrick did what he’s done, HR(10), 2B(nine). In the last 14 days, he has three HR, 10RBI, 310AVG. Not bad for a part-time guy.
- Aaron Hicks (HR, 2B) has had a weak return to the field (two HR, 11RBI, .224). He’s always had health issues, but in a great lineup. Nice buy-low option
- Javier Baez w/second-straight w/HR. Streaking time.
- Twilight Zone - It might be true but still boggles the mind.
- Chase Anderson vs. MIA(four ER, four IP, six K). Anderson isn’t elite but it’s MIA.
- Blake Snell vs DET (six ER, 4.1IP, eight K). What?! Goes to BOS next.
- Noah Syndergaard can’t beat SF? Oh yeah, the bullpen blew up w/6ER
- Dwight Smith Jr. batting cleanup. 11HR, 41RBI? huh?
- Korean dominance: Shin-Soo Choo (HR(11)) & Hyun-Jin Ryu(W(9-1), seven scoreless innings).
- Kike Hernandez banished (29% owned). two HR, 6RBI, .286AVG in two weeks isn’t bad. Too much eligibility to go to waste if he’s rebounding.
- Ramon Laureano back-to-back days w/HR(8); SB too. 18% owned. Use the hotness. He plays in TEX after visiting the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
- 50-50 shot Eduardo Rodriguez goes six innings in any start (6-for-13). W, seven K, two ER in 5.2IP vs KC
- JUSTIFIED…”We knew he was not down & out. He had the power, deep within. No graveyard for him. We knew it, we knew it.” Damn, “We” love to be right. It's true, Miguel Cabrera hit a HR (three) & drove in five. Do I unhitch my truck and attach it to Cabrera? Nope, cause that’s exactly what I’d have to do, tow his weight to the end of the season.
- Madison Bumgarner w/solid outing vs Mets. He continues his impressive audition for the trade market talent show. 4.05ERA (3.88FIP). 24%K. 35% chase rate.
- Shohei Ohtani only 52% owned?! Another HR(four). Get the lead out people. He’s great, even as a part-time lover.
- Devin Smeltzer, this was supposed to be an easy one. Just do to the Indians what you did against the Brewers. Nowhere in there was there supposed to be five ER, 6.1IP, three BB, two K. Now I’m not confident you can handle DET in your next outing. I have to start you, but I won’t be watching.
- Francisco Lindor w/two HR. Draft-day steal. 10HR, .306/.377/.538 slash. The unfortunate supporting cast can’t help generate more counting stats. Thankfully, most of the division is weak.
- (Golf clap) Well played Garrett Cooper. I gave you recognition a couple of days ago; maybe it was too snarky. 4-for-5 w/four R, HR(five) is impressive. I’m still skeptical but you have my attention.
- Why did Keston Hiura get demoted? Because Travis Shaw & his two hits are back. Actually, not a bad game for him. With the power he’s displayed in the past, I’d buy low on Shaw.
- Jay Bruce, you’ve got to be kidding me. two HR, six RBI. Will get regular playing time. Intriguing.
- NY RoY Campaign:
- Austin Riley - 9HR, 25RBI, .324AVG, 19.6% Brls/BBE
- Peter Alonso - 20HR, 45RBI, .267AVG, 19.7% Brls/BBE
- Chris Paddack - 4-4, 2.97ERA(3.69FIP), 22.4%K-BB
- Victor Robles - 36R, 9HR, 9SB, .241AVG
- Enjoy the Wednesday games.
