Welcome to the Thursday, June 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on June 13th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Mike Clevinger only 96% owned?! He returns on Monday. Where're you 4% of people?
- Chris Paddack demotion. Because he’s terrible? Because he’s not Superman like he was to start the year? No, no. Padres are just trying to limit his innings so he’ll last longer into the season. That’s a problem. It is tough to plan when to start him or sit him if he’ll be promoted/demoted at a moments notice.
- Oooh, Andrew Benintendi. two doubles, one triple. Did someone say his swing isn’t made for power either? 17.5-degree launch angle.
- Ramon Laureano. Power & Speed. Oh, yeah, you deserve it…THUNDER!!! Grand Slam, Delicious. w/two SB, five RBI.
- Any fantasizing about what Colin Poché can provide has been put in a cold shower. He allowed the aforementioned grand slam, only one ER.
- Nolan Arenado injured? Uh-oh. More playing time for Ryan McMahon and Brendan Rodgers. Short-term only.
- Jon Duplantier w/injury. That hype train was derailed quite quickly.
- More turmoil trouble in bullpen paradise. Ken Giles injured.
- Trey Mancini. No hype due to Baltimore cloud-cover. 14HR, .302AVG. 21%K. Chase less would be nice (34%)
- Kyle Schwarber crushing balls. 92.9avg exit velo(top-10). Power(14), no AVG(.233). A lot of players fit that description.
- Javier Baez w/17th HR. 13.8%Brls/plate appearance. He plays w/la pasión. I want that on my team.
- Garrett Cooper…….THUNDER!!! Sixth HR. Two-degree launch angle?! .384OBP is top-30 (min 120PA)
- Much respect to Jordan Yamamoto. Seven scoreless innings, five K vs. Cardinals in his major league debut. Don't get too hyped just yet.
- Seven games w/o a HR. Of course Austin Riley was going to smash one (10); already up to 29RBI. Not all was Fonzie as stud rookie Mike Soroka was smacked (five ER, five IP) & closer Luke Jackson was also ineffective (one IP, one ER). Josh Bell (19HR) & Starling Marte (10HR) grinning for their part in the destruction.
- Shiny schooner in a sea of turds. Oh, that is the description of Mitch Garver guiding you through the muck that is the catcher position. He’s not the biggest, fastest or most powerful boat, but he does the job well. 1.7WAR. .321AVG, 10HR.
- Anthony Bass. You are no longer considered a back-end option w/ two ER, one IP. Move aside. Roenis Elias, you are the chosen one. Welcome back.
- Mallex Smith. Last 30days: 2HR, 10SB, .287AVG & only 50% owned. WHY?! We are at the waiver wire waters. Drink!
- Goochland Strong! Justin Verlander w/15K in seven IP. Amazing. No, you’re not on any of my teams but it doesn’t mean I can’t stare.
- Mike Moustakas. THUNDER!!!! 21HR. 45RBI, .278AVG. No respect. 88% owned?! 2B & 3B eligibility, people!
- To show that I’m appreciative, I’ll take this moment to thank the fantasy gods for all my Joey Lucchesi shares. No, he didn’t get the W, but 6K, 2ER, 6IP is better than what could have been in Colorado if you hadn’t moved him to a SF start. For this, we give thanks.
- Yonny Chirinos is the best. Who doesn’t love a good Yonny concert? Oh. Damn, that’s Yanni? Oh, well, Yonny’s concerts are great too. (7K, 2ER, 6IP)
- Yordan Alvarez still breathing. Set everyone's max bid to ‘Broke & Asking Family to Borrow Money They’ll Never See Again’.
- Have a great day of baseball. There are only a couple of early games. Chirinos!
