In the preseason, we brought you Daily League Strategy Part 1 and Part 2. Now, all season long, I will be giving you my advice on whom to start in your daily fantasy lineups. For now, this advice will cater to those who play on Fanduel. They offer some of the best gaming options for beginners, intermediate, and expert level players. Our job here at RotoBaller is to make your daily fantasy gaming experience a fun and successful one. Whether you are new to the daily fantasy scene or have been playing for years, our columns will be up-to-date and useful for all levels of experience. If you are new to the scene, tweet me at @RotoCole and I will personally show you the ropes. Let’s win together. Ladies (one or two reading this) and gentlemen, here is your late game Daily Fantasy Baseball lineup advice for all games on May 8th, 2013:
Wednesday's Must Start: SP King Felix ($9,500) or SP Clayton Kershaw ($9,300) - I think it is a must to start one of these guys. I endorse either as solid options but I will be paying the extra $200 to have King Felix against Pittsburgh. I think he goes at least 8 IP with 10+ Ks.
RotoCole's Fanduel Lineup:
P: Felix Hernandez ($9,500) - MUST START
C: Joe Mauer ($3,400) - Has reached base three times in each of his last three games. That should continue against the young Allen Webster.
1B: Carlos Pena ($2,700) - He is 5-10 in his career against Joe Blanton without a home run, which is very un-Pena like. I think he gets that first HR against Blanton tonight.
2B: Jose Altuve ($3,600) - Had a big game yesterday and faces an easier pitching option in Blanton tonight.
3B: Alberto Callaspo ($2,900) - Homered last night and faces a hittable righty in Bud Norris tonight.
SS: Erick Aybar ($3,300) - Has an extra-base hit in each of his last two games.
OF: Chris Carter ($3,000) - Has a juicy matchup against Joe Blanton, who gives up a ton of hits.
OF: Josh Hamilton ($3,300) - If he is facing a mediocre righty, he'll likely be in my lineups. The potential for a huge game is always going to be worth the lower price to me.
OF: John Mayberry ($3,100) - Has always been good against lefties and tonight will face one of the games most hittable lefties, former Cy Young winner Barry Zito.
I don't like either pitching option for Houston or LAA tonight so I decided to stack both of those teams. The game should be a shootout as Vegas has the over/under for runs at 9.5.
Another route I like tonight is starting Boston rook Allen Webster. I don't think the Twins are very good offensively and Webster has some nice minor league numbers. If you roll with him, then you can afford to splurge on some expensive hitters.
Last, but certainly not least, make sure you check today's lineups before setting your team!
