DFS Soccer Goalkeepers for DraftKings MLS
Bill Hamid, DC United ($4,400)
Yes, Bill Hamid and DC United took a drubbing against the New York Red Bulls in their last match. That should not make you wary of him, however. DC United remains as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and he remains one of the bright young goalkeepers in the game. He puts up 0.37 clean sheets and 0.95 goals conceded per 90 minutes, which are both above-average numbers for a goalkeeper. Additionally, he makes 2.89 saves per 90 minutes and records 3.06 saves per goal, which are not too shabby. He averages 10.8 FPPG to provide a dollar/fantasy point value of $407.40, which is very good for a goalkeeper. You'll be able to get him for a discounted price because of his shoddy outing last week, and he is a great value play this week, especially considering the fact he is going up against the lowly Colorado Rapids (25 goals scored)
DFS Soccer Defenders for DraftKings MLS
Sean Franklin, DC United ($4,300)
Am I advocating stacking DC United's defense? Yes, if you can afford it. Sean Franklin, while not one of the highest priced defenders or most popular players available on DraftKings, offers a lot of value at the defender position. He takes 0.37 shots and scores 0.06 goals per 90 minutes, which are not bad numbers for a fullback. Additionally, he averages 1.10 key passes and chances created per 90 minutes to go along with 0.35 fouls drawn per 90 minutes, which are above-average statistics for a defender. He averages 2.3 FPPG, but that's only in his last three games, not the whole season, so do not be scared away. Colorado's offense is so anemic that you must capitalize on this opportunity.
Taylor Kemp, DC United ($5,600)
Yes, another DC United defender. Bear with me. Taylor Kemp is a statistically solid defender who compiles fantasy points at a fast rate rate. Despite a relatively meager 0.24 shots per 90 minutes, Kemp makes up for the lack of shots with many crosses, which ultimately lead to assists for him. He averages 0.35 assists and 1.19 key passes per 90 minutes, which are above-average numbers for a defender. He averages 7.5 FPPG to give a dollar/fantasy point value of $746.67.
DFS Soccer Midfielders for DraftKings
Javier Morales, Real Salt Lake ($9,000)
Javier Morales, despite his seemingly high price tag, will be worth the money you spend on him. He averages 0.39 goals scored, 0.57 assists, 2.16 total shots, and 3.59 key passes per 90 minutes—all outstanding numbers. Additionally, his dollar per fantasy point value of 629.37 (he averages 14.3 FPPG) helps to secure his spot as one of the most valuable midfielders available for MLS DFS games on DraftKings. He is facing the below average defense of the Houston Dynamo, so his chances of scoring a goal or getting an assist are heightened.
Shea Salinas, San Jose Earthquakes ($6,600)
I was high on Shea Salinas last week, and I remain that way this week. He has not been utilized too much this season, but as of late he has been doing well in fantasy. He averages 9.7 FPPG, and with a relatively inexpensive price of $6,600, and he seems like a bargain. He averages 1.25 total shots on 44% accuracy per 90 minutes to go along with 1.44 key passes per 90 minutes. He provides a dollar/fantasy point value of $680.41, and he is worth a look at the defender position.
DFS Soccer Forwards for DraftKings
Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders ($10,300)
Clint Dempsey declined national team duty to play with his club, so hopefully he is hungry and ready to face Montreal and their subpar defense. Dempsey scores 0.57 goals/90 minutes and takes 2.94 shots/90 minutes with 48% accuracy, which is outstanding for a forward. He creates 1.65 chances/90 minutes and draws 1.94 fouls/90 minutes, which are stellar statistics. With 17.5 FPPG, he provides a dollar/fantasy point value of 588.57$, which is absolutely stellar.
Didier Drogba, Montreal Impact ($8,800)
I was tempted to go with Drogba, so here I am. He is not going to put up another hat trick, but he proved he can still contribute very much. His statistics are skewed, but so far he has averaged 6.64 shots/90 minutes with 50% accuracy, which is out of this world. Additionally, he has made 0.74 key passes/90 minutes, which is not too shabby for a forward. He averages 24.3 FPPG to provide a dollar/fantasy point value of $362.14.
DFS Flex Position for DraftKings MLS
Ben Speas, Columbus Crew ($3,300)
It remains to be seen if Ben Speas will even be in the starting lineup come Saturday, but with much of Columbus' starting XI away on national team duty, he should have a chance to shine at a very inexpensive price. In relatively little time this season, he has averaged 2.01 key passes and 1.21 shots/90 minutes, which for a midfielder is not terrible. His fantasy value is so far unknown because he has played so little, but this choice is a high risk, high reward choice as Columbus squares off against the Philadelphia Union and its porous defense (45 goals allowed).
