Welcome to the August 15th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's box scores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the August 14th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- "Sir, your mankini has arrived." My what? "Mankini." What?! I requested a Trey Mancini, NOT A DAMN MANKINI! What kind of establishment are you running here?! **Donation: $200**
- Two-pitch Tyler Gilbert, here's your no-no smash cake. Huh? You wanted who to jump out of it?
- Proud papa moment when Bryan Reynolds released his 21st kid into the world. Don't judge his views.
- Shohei Ohtani is amused by the simplicity of this game. 39 HR/17 SB.
- Home, James. No one else is interested in the A. Hays Train (12% rostered). .290 AVG last seven games. Bats .305 vs southpaws (faces four next week)
- The clouds part & the sun shines down on your lovely home. Chris Sale holding the clouds back w/ 5 IP, 2 ER, 8 K.
- Humble pie. It is rich & filling. It certainly will cause anyone to focus on their craft in the offseason (Christian Yelich).
- Giggity giggity. Tyler Stephenson love knows no bounds. Woah! Don't you dare put that Omar Narvaez comp on him.
- "Joanne, I know what I saw. Matt Moore outpitched that Luis Castillo." Edmund, it doesn't work like that. They both had 40+ Whiff rate, which is nice & shocking.
- You cry about Hot Bat. "Can't find one." Bobby Dalbec has 4 HR, .341 last 15 games. Only 13% rostered. 3 lefties next week & one today (.286 AVG)
- Because 48% rostershipness (don't mess w/ my words) for Hunter Renfroe makes complete sense.
- Thank goodness I have WYNN stock and none in Wynns the pitcher.
- You haven't tasted Deep-Fried turkey?! So juicy. Thanksgiving coming. Find someone with 20+ barrels in their yard. It's so juicy.
- Ozzie Albies is going streaking & he doesn't care who joins him. 5 HR, 1 SB, .300 AVG last seven games.
- Dansby Swanson w/ six RBI. **Nope, don't need to check my rosters. I'm not enjoying those.**

- Jeimer Candelario (not spanish for candle) continues to burn brightly (insert good stats here, but you don't care). Only 27% rostered.
- A.J. Puk w/ 6 K in 6.1 IP. We like it. Make sure the BB (four) doesn't touch my Ks.
- Matt Chapman (16) rocks quietly on the porch all season. Then he brings the Attitude Adjustor!
- Seth Brown adds another coin in the 'Replace Ramon Laureano' bank. He has 14 HR vs righties & faces five this week. Not easy options though.
- Great, Now Taijuan Walker wants to bring his A-game to school. (LAD)
- Ooooh, Will Smith (17) hit one 444 ft. That's the sign of the....."Hey Joey, what's 444 the sign of?"
- Just like that annual trip to Aunt Sandy's house for delicious fudge...Michael Conforto (eight) makes an appearance. Delicious? Kinda.
- Jon Lester wins. You should definitely start him vs MIL next ((wink, wink)) "Huh?" ((stomp, stomp))
- Hanser Alberto hasn't had much pop/speed, but he has .286 AVG last 15 games
- You know you done bessed up when Luis Arraez goes off on you (two).
- Dad joke: What do Max Kepler (15) & Brent Rooker (six) have in common? They're both born in a German town. Ay Oh! You'll get it one day.
- "Cry me a River. Oh. Cry me a River." Let me hold your hand, you SB-needy snowflake. Ok, push this button for Tyler Wade.
- You say, "Ellis, you love coffee. Why are you not recommending El Coffee?" Gregory Polanco (11 HR/14 SB) is strong but doesn't hit the right spot.
- THUNDAH! Luis Robert makes his presence felt w/ 438-ft bazooka joe bubble gum pop.
- Joey Gallo (28) flexes his range w/ 350 & 420 ft.
- Jakob Berkshire Meyers is not only a partner at the law firm, he's dropping freedom on people (two).

- Corey Knebel (three)
- Albert Abreu (one)
- Liam Hendriks. Two straight bad outings & people rush to grab Kimbrel (10% chance).

Closing Thoughts
- Smile. Smiling makes you feel better, mentally & physically. If you're not comfortable, get feedback on your best smile. Then do it again & again until it's natural. (Not talking Willem Dafoe's smile). Smile more, make more friends. Have a great Sunday.
