RotoCole’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Advice: April 16th Edition
In the preseason, we brought you Daily League Strategy Part 1 and Part 2. Now, all season long, I will be giving you my advice on who to start in your daily fantasy lineups. Initially, this advice will cater to those who play on Fanduel. They offer some of the best gaming options for beginners, intermediate, and expert level players. Whether you are new to the daily fantasy scene or have been playing for years, our columns will be up-to-date and useful for all levels of experience. Ladies (one or two reading this) and gentlemen, here is your late game Daily Fantasy Baseball lineup advice for the late games on April 16th, 2013:
Tuesday's Best Play: A.J. Griffin ($6,300) - Griffin has been a stud so far in his big league career. This season, he is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA and tonight he faces the Houston Astros. Unless the pitcher facing Houston is Brandon Maurer, start the pitcher facing Houston.
Tuesday's Worst Play: Miguel Cabrera ($4,900) - He will be one of the most expensive players across all daily fantasy sites and today is one of a few days where he won't be worth the hefty price. For his career he is just 2-15 off Aaron Harang. He is also just 2-13 in his last three games so avoid him today.
RotoCole's Fanduel Lineup Card:
P: A.J. Griffin ($6,300) - Today's prime time play has a great matchup and should produce nice fantasy production for all owners.
C: Joe Mauer ($3,400) - Went 4-5 yesterday with all being solid hits. He faces a lefty which isn't encouraging but considering his hot bat and low price he should be started by everyone on FanDuel.
1B: Travis Hafner ($3,700) - Opposing pitcher Brandon McCarthy has been a mess through two starts thus far. Now he has to go into Yankee stadium and face a lefty-loaded lineup with a short porch in right field. I am loading up on Yankee lefties. Hafner has hit him well in the past and that should continue tonight.
2B: Robinson Cano ($4,500) - Hasn't had much success against McCarthy but it is a small sample size and I like Cano tonight at Yankee Stadium.
3B: Trevor Plouffe ($3,200) - Plouffe went 2-4 with a double and a home run yesterday. Today he'll face lefty Jason Vargas, a favorable matchup. I like his hot stick (weird) and low price.
SS: Pedro Florimon ($2,500) - I like this dude. He went 2-3 with a double and two RBI yesterday. His dirt cheap price allows me to splurge on Cano and Choo.
OF: Alejandro De Aza ($3,400) - Homered in two of his last three games and draws struggling righty Josh Johnson.
OF: Brett Gardner ($3,200) - Love the price, matchup, and speed Gardner provides. I think he is one of the easiest players to trust for production in all of fantasy baseball.
OF: Shin-Soo Choo ($4,800) - He is 2-3 with two homers in his career against Kyle Kendrick. He is hot right now and facing Kendrick shouldn't change that.
