NHL DFS Picks for Saturday, December 26th
We are back to the ice Saturday night after a three day Christmas break. There are nine games on the schedule tonight and all teams should be well rested. With injuries to star goalies (Fleury, Bobrovsky, Price), there are some values at the position tonight but still lots of elite options (Holtby, Allen, Bishop, Rask) that should be in line for starts in good matchups. As of writing this, there are no goalies confirmed yet so be sure to check my Twitter(@Jager_Bombs9) or www.leftwinglock.com for updated confirmations.
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments(GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
With that, let's dig in to find some core plays for Saturday night.
Tuukka Rask - Goaltender, Bruins (DraftKings - $8,000 FanDuel - $8,800)
He has been red hot in December going 5-1-2 with a .959 save percentage. He also picked up two shutouts this month and never allowed more than two goals once. The Bruins are at home after the Christmas break to face a young Sabres team sitting close to the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Evgeni Malkin - Center, Penguins (DraftKings - $7,600 FanDuel - $9,400)
If you are looking to pay up for a center Saturday, Malkin makes a great option for both cash and tournaments. Before the break he picked up three goals in his last two games and earlier in the year he torched the Wild for two goals and two assists. His ownership may also be down with the current struggles of the Penguins, both even strength and on the powerplay.
Vladimir Tarasenko - Winger, Blues (DraftKings - $8,100 FanDuel - $8,100)
He has been red hot lately averaging around 5.0 fantasy points per game on both sites. In his last 10 games he has grabbed 13 points and fired 31 shots on goal. There is enough value out there Saturday where he can be used comfortably in cash games as well as tournaments.
Mike Cammalleri - Winger, Devils (DraftKings - $5,500 FanDuel - $8,000)
He makes a good tournament play on FanDuel and can be considered for cash on DraftKings where his price is much more affordable. He leads the Devils in points with 34 and averages 12.7 shot attempts per 60 minutes. The floor is high and he also provides the multi point upside to win a tournament as a contrarian play.
Alexander Edler - Defense, Canucks (DraftKings - $5,100 FanDuel - $5,300)
He will be a tremendous cash game play on Draftkings Saturday night. He has been held pointless in six straight games but contributed in other areas giving him a nice floor for cash games. The majority of the floor he presents comes in the form of blocked shots thus the DK cash only tag.
