NHL DFS Picks for Tuesday, January 12th
We are back for another night of daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Tonight we have eight games on the NHL schedule and only the San Jose Sharks are playing on back to back nights. It has been an exciting start to the week with Alexander Ovechkin hitting the 500 goal plateau. He is the 5th fastest(801 Games) to get to the 500 mark which is pretty incredible in itself. A few other players getting close to the 500 goal mark are Marian Hossa(493) and Patrick Marleau(470) who are both in action tonight.
Let's take a look at a few core plays for tonight.
Marc-Andre Fleury - Goaltender, Penguins (DraftKings - $8,000 FanDuel - $9,100)
While his record isn't pretty at 15-11-3, his save percentage(.928) is among the best in the league. The lack of offensive support is the key factor in the lack of wins and their may be better days on he horizon. The Penguins are starting to play better hockey and creep up the standings as we get into the second half of the season. He has been around a full fantasy point better on the road and is coming off a win in Montreal allowing only one goal on 34 shots.
Jonathan Toews - Center, Blackhawks (DraftKings - $6,300 FanDuel - $8,600)
He is currently enjoying his best offensive output of the season. He is red hot with 11 points in his last 10 games with 34 shots on goal and a +7 rating. It's a great time to buy, especially on DraftKings where he costs 13% of your cap vs. 16% on FanDuel.
Zach Parise - Winger, Wild (DraftKings - $7,800 FanDuel - $9,200)
Another player that is starting to see the puck hit the twine at a high rate. Parise has picked up five goals in his last four games on 17 shots. He is a high floor player with the shots and also has multi point upside and gets a ton of time on the powerplay.
Brandon Saad - Winger, Blue Jackets (DraftKings - $6,100 FanDuel - $6,500)
Has been very impressive on the leagues last place team. He has recorded 12 points in his last 10 games including an inflated amount of shots(41) and added seven blocks. He is now up to 30 points on the year with a -1 rating which is pretty respectable given the Blue Jackets have a -30 goal differential.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Defense, Coyotes (DraftKings - $5,700 FanDuel - $5,100)
Has been extremely consistent averaging around four fantasy points per game in his last 10 games on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He averages 15.2 shot attempts per 60 minutes of ice time which has produced 118 shots on goal for the season. A great mid priced D option that is safe in all formats Tuesday night.
