NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Tuesday, March 21
For those that are new to this, each day we'll be providing you with a few of our top DFS lineup picks for daily league cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings. We will also provide you with one of our favorite teams to stack for GPPs. You can grab the rest of our Premium DFS lineup picks and stacks through the NHL Cheat Sheet and DFS Premium Pass below.
Patrice Bergeron (C, BOS)
DraftKings - $7,000, FanDuel - $7,400
With 11 games on the slate, Bergeron falls into the second tier on both sites and could be slightly under-owned. He provides you with a very high floor ranking Top 20 in shot attempts per 60 minutes which he has converted into an average of 3.8 shots on goal per game. Bergeron has also been at his best down the stretch as he is averaging 1.1 points per game since the calendar flipped to 2017. He is safe in all formats.
Conor Sheary (W, PIT)
DraftKings - $6,600, FanDuel - $6,300
Sidney Crosby has helped elevate the games of Conor Sheary and Jake Guentzel to the point where they are both elite PTS/$ plays most nights. Since returning to the lineup at the beginning of March, Sheary has been red hot with 12 points in nine games and now has 47 points and an elite +24 rating in just 51 games played this season. The Pens top rated offense gets a matchup vs. the Sabres who are playing on a back to back night and rank 20th in overall defense. Sheary is also safe in all formats.
Shayne Gostisbehere (D, PHI)
DraftKings - $4,800, FanDuel - $4,600
Overall, it has been a disappointing season for Ghost Bear who has seen a huge decline with a -24 rating to date. The good news for us is that his salary has remained under $5K on both sites making him a nice value on the back end. He provides a high floor with elite shot volume as he ranks 24th in shot attempts per 60 minutes and has tallied 29 shots on goal in his last 10 games. More good news. He gets a matchup vs. the Jets who rank 24th in defense and 18th in penalty kill and also take the fifth most penalty minutes per game. Fire up the Flyer powerplay.
Stacking Option
Pittsburgh Penguins - Sidney Crosby, Conor Sheary, Jake Guentzel
The Penguins are in a dead heat with three other teams for the President's Trophy and get a plus matchup tonight to pick up another win. They aren't the biggest favorites on the board but they are projected to score the most goals tonight. They face a Sabres team ranked 21st in defense and 25th in penalty kill and will have a tough test tonight as they return home from a long road trip. Look for Crosby and Co. to come out flying as home ice advantage throughout the playoffs is a big deal. Sheary and Guentzel provide excellent mid-tier value that won't hamper the rest of your lineup.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes
For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.
For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
