NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Tuesday, February 28
For those that are new to this, each day we'll be providing you with a few of our top DFS lineup picks for daily league cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings. We will also provide you with one of our favorite teams to stack for GPPs. You can grab the rest of our Premium DFS lineup picks and stacks through the NHL Cheat Sheet and DFS Premium Pass below.
Jeff Carter (C, LAK)
DraftKings - $6,900, FanDuel - $7,400
Carter is one of five players with 30 or more goals this season and he also sits Top 15 in overall points. On such a big slate he might also be a bit overlooked after being held without a point in four of his last five games. The great part about Carter is that he still provides value when not scoring with elite shot volume. He ranks 17th in shot attempts per 60 minutes(19.3) which has translated to an average of 3.14 shots on goal per game. He is safe in all formats.
Wayne Simmonds (W, PHI)
DraftKings - $6,300, FanDuel - $6,600
At first glance, you would think Simmonds is a GPP play only as the Flyers offense has been somewhat non-existent. He is actually one of the few Flyers that has been consistent this season and although the offense hasn't been there like we would like, he has tallied three or more shots in six straight games with three goals. Like Carter, he should also be lower owned tonight in an elite matchup due to the large slate and tons of options.
Alex Goligoski (D, ARI)
DraftKings - $3,500, FanDuel - $4,700
He is a little too expensive on FanDuel but is a top value in the mid $3K range on DraftKings. He plays for the Coyotes, the only team worse than the Avalanche, which will most definitely keep his ownership down despite being red hot. Goligoski has tallied a point in three straight games while also recording a whopping 10 blocks. Take the discount and load up with forwards.
Stacking Option
Pittsburgh Penguins - Sidney Crosby, Chris Kunitz, Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin(PP)
Jake Guentzel jumped back on the top line with Sid the Kid and Kunitz making them an excellent source of offense at a fair price. You can also add Evgeni Malkin in the mix to add more upside which is viable as Kunitz and Guentzel come at an excellent value. Whether you stack all four or pick and chose two or three of them, they get an elite matchup vs. the Stars who rank 29th in overall defense.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes
For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.
For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
