RotoBallers, welcome back to our daily fantasy hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings. Below you will find our NHL cheat sheet - DFS lineup picks, sleepers and stacks for Tuesday, February 14 of the 2016/2017 NHL season.
Another night of daily fantasy hockey is upon us and we have a nice seven-game slate on tap. With Monday being a quiet night, there is just one team(ARI) playing on a back to back but six teams(COL, VAN, BUF, NYI, DAL, ARI) are playing a third game in four nights. There should also be a ton of opportunity for some high scores as there are five matchups with a +15 or greater offense to defense differential. Let's get down to business.

NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Tuesday, February 14
For those that are new to this, each day we'll be providing you with a few of our top DFS lineup picks for daily league cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings. We will also provide you with one of our favorite teams to stack for GPPs. You can grab the rest of our Premium DFS lineup picks and stacks through the NHL Cheat Sheet and DFS Premium Pass below.
Connor McDavid (C, EDM)
DraftKings - $8,100, FanDuel - $8,600
Tonight marks a perfect time to jump on board the McDavid train as you are most likely going to get him at a lower than normal ownership percentage. Why? Well, Crosby is only a few hundred more and is clearly the better player(sorry Oiler fans). Not that McDavid isn't good or anything as he leads the league with 61 points and also gets gets the benefit of an elite matchup vs. the 28th ranked defense who is playing on back to back nights and a third game in four nights. Fire up McDavid in all formats.
Taylor Hall (W, NJ)
DraftKings - $6,600, FanDuel - $6,800
The Devils have struggled offensively all season ranking 28th overall but get one of the best matchups of the night. The Avs rank dead last in defense, allowing 3.4 goals per game which is over .2 goals per game more than the next worst team. Hall comes with a very affordable sub $7K price tag on both sites and has not only provided upside but also a safe floor with 31 shots on goal over his last 10 games.
Johnny Boychuk (D, NYI)
DraftKings - $4,900, FanDuel - $4,700
After starting out February with back to back games without recording a point, Boychuk has tallied points in three of his last four games. You can't rely on the offense, however, as he only has 19 points in 50 games this season. What you can rely on is a safe floor(blocks/shots) from a D-man who won't break the bank. He is safe in all formats.
Stacking Option
Pittsburgh Penguins - Sidney Crosby, Chris Kunitz, Jake Guentzel
This is a unique opportunity to easily get Sid the Kid into your lineups tonight. He is skating with Kunitz and Guentzel on the top line, both of whom come at near minimum prices. Kunitz has recorded a point in five of his last seven games and Guentzel picked up an assist in his first game on the top line. The Pens get a great matchup to put up some offense tonight as the Canucks come to town with the second worst road record(8-17-3) in the Western Conference and the 18th ranked defense.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes
For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.
For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
