Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (11/16/17): NHL DFS Advice for FanDuel, DraftKings

Tom Vecchio's top daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for 11/16/17. Expert NHL DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for FanDuel and DraftKings.

We have a MASSIVE 12 game slate of NHL tonight, and there are some really large GPPs on both sites. Stacking and nailing down tournament one-offs will be key tonight, so let's take a dive into some options.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/16/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Steven Stamkos - C, TB vs DAL (DK - $7,700, FD - $8,700)

Stamkos, and the top line for the Lightning, are getting to a spot where they are harder, and harder to fade. The multi point potential they have on a nightly basis is something many NHL fans truly haven't seen, and getting to watch them is simply amazing. Stamkos has 31 points in 18 games this season, along with taking over three shots per game. He is on the top forward line as I mentioned, and the top power-play unit. If you can find the value out there, and you have the money, do your best to get the full line stack in your lineup. They are getting very expensive, but it will be worth it. Stamkos can also be used as a one-off in tournaments or just as a cash game play, since he has such a high floor of points.

Matt Duchene - C, OTT vs PIT (DK - $5,500, FD - $4,900)

Duchene will be making his first start on his new home ice in Ottawa tonight, and if you like a bit of a narrative, this is the spot for you. He debut for the Senators came last week, but those game were played in Sweden, so not the true first game for the Senators. He is seeing time on the second forward line, and the second power-play unit, and has taken 10 shots in two games since being with the Senators. He is up against the Penguins, who have given up 72 goals in just 20 games this season, which is second worst in the league.

Drew Stafford - W, NJ @ TOR (DK - $4,100, FD - $4,100)

Stafford and the Devils aren't a place I have historically looked for offense, but now that they are averaging over three goals a games this season, they are a viable option. Stafford is on the second forward line and the second power-play unit, so plenty of ice time for him against a Toronto team who is giving up over three goals per game. Stafford only has eight points in 14 games this season, but is taking over two shots per game. No goal total set for this game as of now, but we should see it at 6. Plenty of shots to go around in this game, and Stafford also offers a bit of savings.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Erik Karlsson - D, OTT vs PIT (DK - $7,100, FD - $7,400)

I will say this anytime Karlsson is on the slate, never pass up the chance to roster him if you have the salary. Karlsson is one of the elite defenders in the league, and has 17 points in 11 games this season. He is workhorse when it comes to minutes, playing well over 20 minutes a game, seeing time on the top defensive pairing and the top power-play unit. He will be on the ice against the Penguins top two lines, so we should see him trend up in minutes for this game. Karlsson also takes over two shots per game, while blocking about one shot per game. Adding DFS points in multiple ways is exactly what you want to see.

Shayne Gostisbehere  - D, PHI @ WPG (DK - $5,300, FD - $5,800)

Gostisbehere aka Ghost, is one of the young defensemen for the Flyers, and a great DFS play. He has 15 points in 15 games this season, and is seeing time on the second defensive pairing, and the top power-play unit. Great ice time for such a young player, who is also taking over two shots per game, and blocking about one shot. A bit cheaper than Karlsson, but doing a bit of the same stuff. Contributing points in multiple ways, and when it comes to DFS, you need a player who is multi dimensional.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Charlie Lindgren - G, MON vs ARI (DK - $8,300, FD - $8,300)

Lindgren will continue to see the starts for Montreal, and with the rumors flying around they might be looking to trade Carey Price, he could be here to stay. His price has risen a bit since his first starts, but his match up tonight couldn't be better. He is at home against Arizona, who have only scored 46 goals this season, which is tied for second fewest in the league. Lindgren has already been confirmed as the starter, so you can lock him into your lineups, and in a good spot to come away with the win.

Scott Darling - G, CAR @ NYI (DK - $7,200, FD - $7,700)

If you are looking a bit of a pivot play, and someone who should come in a lower ownership, take a look at Darling. He is on the road vs the Islanders, and has already been confirmed as the starter. The Hurricanes have only allowed 44 goals with season, which is second fewest in the league. They aren't viewed as a top defensive team, but they are playing close games, where Darling has the chance to come away with the win. Darling has allowed one goal or fewer in three of this last four starts. Fantastic GPP option tonight.
