Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (10/14/17): NHL DFS Advice for FanDuel, DraftKings

Tom Vecchio's top daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for 10/14/17. Expert NHL DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for FanDuel and DraftKings.

We have a MASSIVE 14 game slate today, so nearly every play in the league is available. Top tier, and value options across the board, so if you are rolling out multiple lineups, you will have plenty of choices. There are also plenty of home favorites when it comes to goalies, so grab one that is in a spot to pick up the win.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five. Only a few games into the season, so not a whole lot of stats to work with, but plenty to get into as the season goes on.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/14/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Connor McDavid - C, EDM vs OTT (DK - $8,300, FD - $9,300)

Anytime Connor McJesus is on the slate, you want to give him a look. Yes, he is expensive, but the multi point potential is almost certain. The Oilers haven't played since Monday, so they are full rested going against a Senator team who played last night. Always good to target teams who are on the second day of a back to back, hoping they come out slow. McDavid is the center on the first line and on the first power-play unit, so plenty of ice time for him. He has four points and 14 shots through three games, which is a strong start for him, and we should see that trend continue. Viable in any format.

Tyler Bozak - C, TOR @ MON (DK - $4,900, FD - $5,600)

Bozak is the second line center and on the first power-play unit for the Maple Leafs, which puts is production value high, even with a tough match up. Generally, most people don't target players going against Carey Price, but this spot can make him an interesting GPP play. He has four points in four games, along with 12 shots, which are exactly the type of numbers we want to see as fantasy players. Don't like him a cash game play, due to the match up, but low ownership in a GPP looks like it could be true.

Alexander Radulov - W, DAL vs COL (DK - $6,000, FD - $6,400)

Radulov is on the first line for the Stars, and seems a bit too cheap today. The Stars will be at home, against the Avalanche, who played last night, so another spot to target a tired defense. Radulov has yet to light the lamp this year, but in his four games, he has two points and 10 shots. The Stars offense has yet to show their full potential on offense, and since this is a full slate, you won't have to worry about ownership. Buy low on him before the price comes up.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Brent Burns - D, SJ vs NYI (DK - $7,800, FD - $7,200)

Burns has yet to put up one of his classic multi point performances this year, only one point in three games, and this looks like the spot for him. The Islanders have given up 14 goals in only four games, and yeah, that isn't good. Burns loves to take shots from the blue line, and with him on the first power-play unit, we should see plenty of that. Burns also provides extra fantasy value because he gets down and blocks shots. Free fantasy points that he gets a ton of, and not on the offensive end.

Justin Schultz - D, PIT vs FLA (DK - $4,400, FD - $4,100)

The Penguins haven't gotten off to the best start this season, but as the two time defending champs, we know they will turn things around. They are at home vs the Panthers, and are in a bit of a get right spot. Schultz makes a good option in all formats tonight, one because he isn't too expensive, and he plays on the first power-play unit, which is one of the deadliest in the league. He also likes to block shots, so more potential for free fantasy points.

Brandon Carlo - D, BOS  @ ARI (DK - $3,600, FD - $3,300)

Whenever there is a full slate of games, you should try to fit in as many top goal scorers as you can, which means you need to take there value players where you can get them. Carlo is a very cheap option, who plays on the first defensive line for the Bruins. This game finds Boston as a -135 road favorite, which should tell you something about the strength of Arizona. He doesn't play on the power-play, which isn't great, but for his price, playing on the first line, can't be passed up.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Jonathan Quick - G, LA vs BUF (DK - $8,400, FD - $9,000)

Always good to look at goalies who are home favorites and go from there. Quick didn't have the best game last go around, and now at home vs Buffalo, he is in a bounce back spot. he has only given up five goals in three games this season, and has one shutout. Really like him in this spot, considering that Buffalo is still a young team, who needs to learn how to win tough games. Quick also sees plenty of shots per game, so extra points just in case he lets in one goal.

Matt Murray - G, PIT vs FLA (DK - $7,900, FD - $8,800)

Murray finds himself and the Penguins as big -185 favorites at home tonight. Murray had the game off the other day, so he will be on full rest, after only given up two goals in his last two starts. Good spot for him tonight, as the Panthers are taking the second most shots per game at 40 right now. Huge point potential there, and in a spot where he should pick up the win, he makes a great play in any format.
