NCAA College Football FanDuel Picks for 9/26

As a heads up, these picks are heavily based on Vegas lines, expected workloads and targets. I do also try to throw in some cheaper, home run hitting type players as well. Now that we're three weeks into the season, there is finally a *decent* amount of statistics to use, but I'm not going to rely heavily on stats that likely were accumulated against FCS teams.

Most of the guys I outline below will be GPP plays. They of course carry some risk. Honestly though, without risk, what fun is it? You can't win tournaments with chalky picks anyway.

CFB DFS Quarterback Picks for FanDuel

Pat Mahomes (QB, Texas Tech) - $8,700

Mahomes is set to duel in the game Vegas has pegged with the highest over/under of the day at 80.5 - but that's not the only reason to love Pat on Saturday. He's been playing very well as of late and leads a strong, pass-heavy offense. The Red Raiders like to go quick strike, too, so there's no doubt he'll have plenty of chances to score. He's averaging 37 PPG on FanDuel this season already. As a bonus, he's shown he can tuck it and run, too.

Matt Johnson (QB, BGSU) - $8,600

Even in a losing effort last week, Johnson was brilliant, posting his second straight 40+ point FanDuel game this season. There's a lot to like about a veteran leader that orchestrates an offense focused on beating opponents though the air. He's a bit pricey, but you should get what you pay for - and then some - with Johnson. Additionally, the game has a very high over/under (75) and a low point spread (3), which are good signs for Johnson-backers.

Jerrod Heard (QB, Texas) - $8,300

The quarterback list wouldn't be complete without another dual-threat guy. Heard most definitely fits the bill. He exploded onto the scene last week, posting 364 yards through the air and another 163 on the ground with three touchdowns. This week, he faces a weaker offense than last in Oklahoma State in a game with a high over/under (61) and low spread (3). He may be highly owned thanks to his gaudy numbers last Saturday, but I'm okay with that at the quarterback position, as the uber-athletic Heard projects to be the focal point of the Longhorns offense from here on out.

CFB DFS Running Back Picks for FanDuel

Aaron Green (RB, TCU) - $8,300

I'm steering clear of TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin, but only because his asking price doesn't leave me enough salary to fill my roster with studs at other slots. If you're looking for TCU shares, Green in your man. He's clearly their top back and should receive the lion's share of the carries on Saturday.

Myles Gaskin (RB, Washington) - $6,000

Gaskin has a very favorable price tag and I'm going to get a few shares come Saturday. This game has a high over/under (61) and a low spread (4), two great signs for anyone looking to fill their roster with Pac-12 guys. I think most people are going to look to grab QB Jared Goff in this game, but Gaskin is the GPP play for the Huskies. He's their leading back, getting most of the carries, and he a threat to break off a long run or two, as well.

Chris Carson (RB, OkState) - $7,800

Since assuming the #1 running back role for the Cowboys, Carson has really looked the part. He should have a lot of open lanes against a struggling Texas defense.

Jonathan Gray (RB, Texas) - $6,300

Gray could take a little bit of a hit with Heard taking off from the pocket so often, but the other way to look at this is that Heard moves the chains and keeps the ball on the field. At this price and with Gray's improved play, he's worth the risk for me.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Picks for FanDuel

Corey Coleman (WR, Baylor) - $8,200

Coleman could be one of the top receivers in the country by nation's end, and he's a big piece of a high flying, aerial attack offense for Baylor.

Josh Doctson (WR, TCU) - $8,400

Trevone Boykin's favorite target at wide receiver. A little pricey, but he should be worth the money.

Kolby Listenbee (WR, TCU) - $6,000

Listenbee is the deep threat burner for the Red Raiders. Look for him to stretch the field quite a bit.

Devin Lauderdale (WR, Texas Tech) - $5,800

Like Listenbee, Laurderdale is another home run hitting type. He's not reliable enough for cash games, but the price is certainly right and he's got high upside.

Roger Lewis (WR, BGSU) - $7,600

Lewis is a great volume receiver and perhaps the favorite target of quarterback Matt Johnson. If this game is as high scoring as Vegas expects, a Johnson-Lewis stack could pay big dividends.

D. J. Moore (WR, Maryland) - $4,900

High risk, high reward. Maryland coach Randy Edsall recently said Moore has climbed the depth chart because they need a guy who can stretch the field vertically.

CFB DFS Tight End Picks for FanDuel

Tyler Higbee (TE, WKU) - $3,700

Sure, he's the most expensive tight end on the board Saturday afternoon, but you get what you pay for with Higbee, and that's a lot more than you can say about most tight ends. The board is full of TE's that have just a handful of catches this season. With Higbee, you're getting a proven pass catcher that has the trust of his veteran quarterback in a high octane offense.

Josiah Price (TE, MSU) - $3,200

All things considered, I think Price is the second best tight end option on the board today. He doesn't get a ton or targets, but he has the faith of his quarterback to get the job done. While the number of targets remains small, he does receive them in the red zone, which ups his value quite a bit as a touchdown threat. He's managed to score once in each of his team's three victories this season.
