BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 4% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It is hard to have predicted a better debut by Washington Commanders' new QB Carson Wentz: a top-3 performance at the position with 29.7 FP to the tune of four passing touchdowns. Not bad. Not bad, either? Curtis Samuel's outstanding game and top-12 WR outing thanks to an über-productive show on Sunday.
Samuel got double-digit targets this weekend and he turned those 11 looks into a phenomenal seven-reception, 72-yard stat line. Oh, and one of those receptions, of course, ended with Samuel getting into the end zone and touching gracefully to score himself a bunch of extra goodies. Remove Samuel's fumble from his line, and he'd have finished the week on top of every other Commander on Week 1 in terms of his PPR points.
Now, for a warning, this is hardly the weekly score we should expect from Samuel. First of all, the 11 targets are going to be a bit unsustainable going forward considering he shares the field with Terry McLaurin and the latter only got four targets on the day. Jahan Dotson, the rookie, already got five targets and he scored two touchdowns, so odds are the diet stays at that level or even grows larger. And TE Logan Thomas has yet to play at a 100% yet still got targeted six times.
No matter what, though, Samuel should retain the WR2 role without much trouble unless Dotson turns into a magnificent player from the get-go and shows that his true-talent level is that showcased in Week 1. Until that happens, though, you'd be good landing Samuel in the slightest of deep leagues where he is most-probably available for now.
