The Chicago Cubs are having talks with the Detroit Tigers for David Price, according to CBS Chicago.
The Tigers are 47-47, but also 10.5 games behind the Kansas Royals for first place. They are only three games out of the second Wild Card spot, but they might be sellers as the July 31 trade deadline nears.
Price, 29, will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, and the left-hander is 9-3 during another All-Star season. He owns a 2.32 ERA with 3 complete games and 127 strikeouts on the season. If the Cubs could acquire Price, it could take a lot to get him. Chicago has one of the youngest teams that is filled with prospects.
If Price is pitching in Chicago, the Cubs could be in serious discussion for October. The Cubs currently own the second Wild Card spot in the NL while trailing the Pittsburgh Pirates by three games for the first spot and are nine games out of first place in the NL Central.
