Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS picks! If you are reading this, you must be missing sports quite a bit but have found solace in DFS ESports! For those that are new to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS set up, don't worry I got your back!
If you need a quick refresher, here you go. You have teams of five and the objective is to plant a bomb while the other team defends. It’s a pretty simple objective so let’s not try to over-analyze things! There are 30 rounds per match (the first to win 16 rounds takes the match) and they play best two out of three. There is no respawning so once you die, you are gone till the next round so kill-to-death ratios are very important to look at it when crafting your roster.
Today I'll be bringing you my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS advice, analysis and picks for ESports DFS contests on DraftKings Tuesday, April 7th, 2020 at 8:25 AM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @rdr1634.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - DFS Basics
From a DFS perspective, you have six total spots with 1 of those being a captain spot which gets 1.5X points. With any shooting game, kills and deaths are a big focal point in CSGO DFS. Kills get you 1.5 points and assists get you 1 point while a death gets you -1. This is where the K/D (kill to death ratio) comes into play and is something that you should really pay close attention to when making your picks on each slate.
We want to roster guys who can limit the death total and not completely sink our lineups just because of reckless play and die more frequently. Additional bonuses are handed out but the biggest thing to focus on is the kill to death ratio. One overlooked stat is the game length adjustment stat. This is an adjustment that takes a player score, gets multiplied by 30 and then divided by the number of rounds played.
When it comes to roster construction, we will obviously look to fill the captain spot with someone who provides a solid floor but one who can have the most upside as well. For this article, I will look at the different matchups, give a player pool and make some recommendations as to who I like on the slate.
Tuesday's Games: ESL-FP
- OG +145 vs. Fnatic -185
- Mousesports -105 vs. Natus Vincere -125
- FaZe +145 vs. Astralis -190
* All of these teams were on the slate yesterday so you could see some overlap when it comes to the recommendation of plays.
OG +145 vs. Fnatic -185
Fnatic is coming off of a major win against Astralis and is now winners of four of their last five games. OG played a tough competitive game against Natus Vincere and with their recent form, this game feels like it will be a more competitive game than Vegas is predicting. Fnatic is the favorite heading into this game but this seems like a game stacking candidate based on what we know and have seen over the past several matches.
Fnatic is led by KRIMZ and Brollan and they both went for 60+ kills against Astralis. Both of them serve as viable captain spot players that do offer upside. Flusha has been playing well over the last month as he has accumulated a 1.09 K/D ratio and also is the highest-rated player on the Fnatic squad. JW is a great value play if needing a salary saver as he has accumulated a 1.05 K/D ratio over the past month and is the cheapest price point on this Fnatic squad.
OG has some really good players that are relatively cheap to the rest of the field so this could be a good spot to check for value if you’re needing it for roster construction. Maantu has been doing very well over the last month, registering a 1.23 K/D ratio. ISSAA has also been playing well and he actually has a 1.17 K/D ratio against Fnatics in his career. Valde has a career 1.06 in 19 maps played against Fnatic so he could be someone you could roster if you are needing some savings and consistency.
OG (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- ISSAA 1.09
- Mantuu 1.23
- -NBK .96
- Valde 1.10
- Aleksib .76
Fnatic (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- KRIMZ 1.09
- Flusha 1.09
- Brollan 1.09
- JW 1.05
- Golden .91
Mousesports -105 vs. Natus Vincere -125
This should be the most exciting game to watch on this slate as we get to see another top-five matchup. Before the end of the Monday slate, both squads won four out of their last five matches and are both jockeying for position at the top of the Stage two leaderboard of the ESL.
Natus Vincere has the best player in this league in S1mple. His numbers are off the charts as he has a 1.46 K/D ratio over the last month. He is a career 1.31 K/D ratio so he is outperforming what he usually does. S1mple has a career K/D ratio of 1.32 against Mousesports and this is over the span of 51 maps played. He is matchup proof and should be considered on every slate. Electronic is a good teammate to pair withS1mple as he holds the 2nd highest K/D ratio and carries solid upside.
From Mousesports, Ropz and Frozen are always two targets to consider. Ropz has a career K/D ratio of 1.14 while Frozen has actually struggled against them, only accumulating a K/D ratio of 1.02. Woxic has really solid career numbers against Natus Vincere as he has a 1.06 K/D ratio in over 20 maps played so he is worthy of tournament lineup consideration.
Mousesports (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- Frozen 1.22
- Ropz 1.23
- Woxic 1.02
- Chrisj .85
- Karrigan .80
Natus Vincere (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- S1mple 1.46
- Electronic 1.16
- Boombl4 .89
- Flamie .93
- Perfecto .78
FaZe +145 vs. Astralis -190
Astralis dropped the ball yesterday against Fnatic and now draws a tricky match against FaZe. Astralis has lost two straight games and four out of their last five games have gone the full three matches so this could be a good game stacking candidate. Heading into Monday’s game, FaZe was winners in three out of their last five matches but are 0-1 in stage 2 of the European Season 11 of the ESL Pro League. Astralis needs a big win as well since they are 0-2 in stage two and would really be behind if they dropped to 0-3.
NiKo is back to being in consideration as a top captain player on this slate. Even though Faze is considered the underdog, he is just simply too good to not consider. He also is averaging a 1.05 K/D ratio against Astralis and this ratio is based on 73 maps that he has played against them so it’s a pretty large sample size. Coldzera is another one for consideration as he has a 1.14 K/D ratio against Astralis in his career. Broky is the final FaZe member to consider since he is in great form, acquiring a 1.18 K/D ratio over the past month compared to him having a lifetime 1.09 K/D ratio.
Astralis has several guys on this slate that can do some damage and it all starts with Xyp9x. Over the last month, he has a 1.20 K/D ratio and has a career 1.15 K/D ratio against FaZe. A few others to consider are Device (1.16) and Magisk (1.07) who both have strong K/D ratio numbers against FaZe in their career. Dupreeh is always a solid player but he doesn’t have as strong of numbers against FaZe as his other teammates and when factoring in salary.
FaZe (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- NiKo 1.26
- Coldzera 1.23
- Broky 1.18
- Rain .90
- Olofmeister .82
Astralis (K/D Ratio- Last Month)
- Xyp9x 1.20
- Dupreeh 1.16
- Gla1ve .97
- Device 1.21
- Magisk 1.02
