Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS picks! If you are reading this, you must be missing sports quite a bit but have found solace in DFS ESports! For those that are new to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS set up, you are not alone.
If you need a quick refresher, here you go. You have teams of five and the objective is to plant a bomb while the other team defends. It’s a pretty simple objective so let’s not try to over-analyze things! There are 30 rounds per match (the first to win 16 rounds takes the match) and they play best two out of three. There is no respawning so once you die, you are gone till the next round so Kill Death Ratios are very important to look at it when crafting your roster.
Today I'll be bringing you my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS advice, analysis and picks for ESports DFS contests on DraftKings at 8:25 AM, April 6th, 2020. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @rdr1634.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - DFS Basics
From a DFS perspective, you have six total spots with 1 of those being a captain spot which gets 1.5X points. With any shooting game, kills and deaths are a big focal point in CSGO DFS. Kills get you 1.5 points and assists get you 1 point while a death gets you -1. This is where the K/D (kill to death ratio) comes into play and is something that you should really pay close attention to when making your picks on each slate.
We want to roster guys who can limit the death total and not completely sink our lineups just because of reckless play and die more frequently. Additional bonuses are handed out but the biggest thing to focus on is the kill to death ratio. One overlooked stat is the game length adjustment stat. This is an adjustment that takes a player score, gets multiplied by 30 and then divided by the number of rounds played.
When it comes to roster construction, we will obviously look to fill the captain spot with someone who provides a solid floor but one who can have the most upside as well. For this article, I will look at the different matchups, give a player pool and make some recommendations as to who I like on the slate.
Monday's Games: ESL-FP
- Astralis -215 vs. Fnatic +170
- Natus Vincere -265 vs. OG +200
- FaZe -115 vs. Mousesports -110
Astralis -215 vs. Fnatic +170
We kick off this Monday slate with a battle of two top-five teams in the world with Astralis and Fnatic. Astralis is ranked #2 in the world while Fnatic is ranked #5. Fnatic has been playing very well as of late, winning four out of their last five matches but one loss they did have came at the hands of Natus Vincere, a top-five squad in the world. Astralis themselves are currently riding a four-game win streak and have won four out of their last five matches. Vegas is on Astralis’s side and it is hard to go against them with their excellent recent form.
Astralis has a very balanced team and has four guys that are currently sporting a 1 K/D ratio or above which shows that they do a great job of choosing when to attack and being careful in keeping the numbers in their favor during matches. As a team, they have a collective 1.09 K/D ratio over the last month which is very impressive. Xyp9x leads them with a 1.27 K/D ratio and a +51 K/D differential and is a captain slot choice on this slate. Dupreeh and Device are also worth consideration for the captain role but Xyp9x offers a little more salary relief in that captain spot. These three Astralis players also make for a good three-man stack if you were looking to stack Astralis.
Fnatic is sporting a 1.01 K/D ratio as a team over the past month which does not look as good when compared to Astralis’s collective K/D ratio. Brollan offers the most upside on this squad as he and Krimz are both sporting a 1.09 K/D ratio. Brollan also has the largest K/D differential with a +28 while Krimz is at +26. These would be the two Fnatic players to use if you wanted exposure to them but this seems like a spot that does not offer up much upside.
Astralis (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- Xyp9x 1.34
- Device 1.25
- Dupreeh 1.17
- Gla1ve 1.01
- Magisk 1.04
Fnatic (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- KRIMZ 1.09
- Flusha 1.02
- Brollan 1.09
- JW .98
Natus Vincere -265 vs. OG +200
Natus Vincere will likely be the chalkiest team based on their matchup. They are the #1 ranked team in the world and have been in the top 30 for 125 weeks! They have appeared as the #1 ranked team for the last four weeks and don’t seem to be slowing anytime soon. They are riding a 3 game win streak heading into Sunday’s match. OG is currently ranked #15 in the world and they too have also won three out of their last five matches. This should be a good game but unfortunately for OG, they will be outmatched against a tough Natus Vincere squad.
Over the last month, Natus Vincere has had a 1.02 K/D ratio as a team. S1mple has been the leader of this squad and has been playing out of his mind over the last month, accumulating a K/D ratio of 1.47 and having a +109 K/D differential. He is the top option for the captain spot and is viable for both cash games and tournaments. Electronic is the only other Natus VIncere player to really give consideration to stack with S1mple as he has gone for a 1.13 K/D Ratio over the last month and has also gone +34 for a K/D differential.
While OG has several players that we have used previously, they have not gone up against a squad quite like Natus Vincere which takes me off of looking at the OG side of this game. As a team, OG has a 1.01 K/D ratio which is right under Natus Vincere so if you think that they will stay in this game, then look to using Mantuu and ISSAA. Mantuu has a 1.22 K/D ratio over the past month and has a +73 K/D differential and ISSAA has a 1.12 K/D ratio and has produced a +42 K/D differential.
Natus Vincere (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- S1mple 1.47
- Electronic 1.13
- Boombl4 .89
- Flamie .93
OG (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- ISSAA 1.12
- Mantuu 1.22
- -NBK .96
- Valde 1.07
FaZe -115 vs. Mousesports -110
The last game on this slate looks to be the most competitive based on the Vegas odds and the fact that both of these squads are ranked in the top 10 of the world. FaZe is ranked #10 and Mousesports is ranked #4. Mousesports has won four out of the last five matches heading into Sunday’s match and also has a win over FaZe within the last month while FaZe has won three out of their last five games. It seems like this could be a competitive match which means it could go the full three rounds.
FaZe has a 1.07 K/D ratio as a team and has gone 11-0-6 in their last 17 matches played. NiKo has been one of the more dominant players over the past month, registering a 1.26 K/D ratio and having a +75 K/D differential. He is worthy of captain consideration due to the upside that he possesses. Coldzera and Broky are both solid additions to a FaZe stack and are good players overall. Coldzera has a 1.23 over the last month while Broky has a 1.18 K/D ratio and both look to be in good form entering Monday’s contest.
Mousesports has a collective team K/D ratio of 1.01 and has gone 9-0-3 over their last 12 maps played. Frozen and Ropz have been a very dominant duo and both garner captain role consideration. They both have an above 1.20 K/D ratio and are both +44 and +45 for their K/D differential. Woxic has been a good third member to a Mousesports stack but doesn’t offer upside as he has a 1.02 K/D ratio over the past month and when factoring price, it makes sense to pay up $200 more to get to frozen.
FaZe (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- NiKo 1.26
- Coldzera 1.23
- Broky 1.18
Mousesports (K/D Ratio - Last Month)
- Frozen 1.22
- Ropz 1.23
- Woxic 1.02
