Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS picks! If you are reading this, you must be missing sports quite a bit but have found solace in DFS ESports! For those that are new to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS set up, you are not alone. I dabbled in Call of Duty quite a bit when I was younger, and Counter-Strike resembles COD quite a bit in my opinion.
If you need a quick refresher, here you go. You have teams of five and the objective is to plant a bomb while the other team defends. It’s a pretty simple objective so let’s not try to over-analyze things! There are 30 rounds per match (the first to win 16 rounds takes the match) and they play best two out of three. There is no respawning so once you die, you are gone till the next round so Kill Death Ratios are very important to look at it when crafting your roster.
Today I'll be bringing you my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS advice, analysis, and picks, for contests on DraftKings at 12:00 PM, April 2nd, 2020. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @rdr1634.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - DFS Basics
From a DFS perspective, you have 6 total spots with 1 of those being a captain spot which gets 1.5X points. With any shooting game, kills and deaths are a big focal point in CSGO DFS. Kills get you 1.5 points and assists get you 1 point while a death gets you -1. This is where the K/D (kill to death ratio) comes into play and is something that you should really pay close attention to when making your picks on each slate.
We want to roster guys who can limit the death total and not completely sink our lineups just because of reckless play and die more frequently. Additional bonuses are handed out but the biggest thing to focus on is the kill to death ratio. One overlooked stat is the game length adjustment stat. This is an adjustment that takes a player score, gets multiplied by 30 and then divided by the number of rounds played.
When it comes to roster construction, we will obviously look to fill the captain spot with someone who provides a solid floor but one who can have the most upside as well. For this article, I will look at the different matchups, give a player pool and make some recommendations as to who I like on the slate.
Thursday's Games: ESL-FP
- Furia -300 @ Swole Patrol +220
- Chaos (EVEN) @ FPX -130
- MAD Lions -235 @ cOntact +180
- Evil G. -315 @ MIBR +245
Furia -300 @ Swole Patrol +220
Furia is showing that they are one of the best teams in Season 11 of the ESL. They sit atop of Group A at 2-1 while Swole Patrol is 1-2. Furia dropped their first series yesterday to Evil geniuses in a very close match (2-1) but gets a perfect rebound opponent in Swole Patrol.
Furia is ranked #11 in the world while Swole Patrol is ranked #39. With Furia coming into this game in better form, they stand out as one of the best stacking options for us tomorrow. Kscerato leads Group A in his K/D rating with Hen1 and Yuurih making viable stacking partner options.
On the Swole Patrol side, -Cooper serves as a good one-off option in large tournaments just because he could go overlooked due to other options on this slate and with Swole Patrol being an underdog.
Furia (K/D Ratio)
- Kscerato 1.35
- Hen1 1.23
- Vini .87 (61% headshot)
- Yuurih 1.03
- Art .89
Swole Patrol (K/D Ratio)
- -Cooper 1.19
- Zellsis 1.02
- Food .98
- MarKE .98
- Freakazoid .92
Chaos (EVEN) @ FPX -130
This game is interesting from the fact that it could be a sneaky game that goes overlooked when compared to the other games. Chaos comes into this match-winning 2 out of their last 5 games while FPX has dropped 3 straight games. These teams are closely ranked with Chaos being ranked #36 in the world while FPX is ranked #33.
There’s not much that really initially stands out from an individual perspective from either team but on a 4game slate, you might have to look at someone from this game. Smooya has been the main cog for Chaos as he has a 1.38 K/D ratio which is above his 3 month average of 1.32. His teammate Steel is at a 1.11 which is .1 under his 3 month average of 1.12 K/D ratio so those would be the 2 to target from Chaos.
Dapr stands out as the lone stud amongst this FPX team but it seems as if Chaos might be the better team to use since they are showing they are in better form as of late. These options could serve as good one-off plays in tournaments due to them going lower owned.
Chaos (K/D Ratio)
- Smooya 1.38
- Steel 1.11
- Vanty 1.03
- mCe NA
- Cam .82
FPX (K/D Ratio)
- Dapr 1.25
- Crashies 1.07
- Jonji 1.04
- Mitch .98
- Ptr .89
MAD Lions -235 @ cOntact +180
MAD looks to have a very favorable matchup against c0ntact and this is a game where you will want to get some exposure to the MAD Lions. MAD are winners of 4 out of their last 5 games with 1 of these wins coming against c0ntact (won 2-0). MAD is ranked #13 in the world while c0ntact is ranked #26 and c0ntact will be using a stand-in player (Rallen) who has played less than 5 matches with this group.
MAD has a lot of talent on their team and the top 3 players to look at are SJuush, acoR, and Bubskji. All 3 of them have above a 1.15 K/D ratio and look to be in very good form. Sjuush and acoR would be one of the better 2 man stacks and if looking to get unique, look to add in Bubskji for a lower owned 3 man stack. C0ntact is a team to fade in this matchup as it seems they are completely outmatched against MAD.
MAD (K/D Ratio)
- Sjuush 1.28
- aCoR 1.23
- Bubzkji 1.15
- AcilioN 1.01
- roeJ .95
cOntact (K/D Ratio)
- Espiranto 1.12
- SHiPZ 1.09
- ottoNd 1.06
- Rallen 1.05
- Emi .83
Evil G. -315 @ MIBR +245
MIBR had a big win against Gen. G yesterday and faces their toughest challenge yet in Evil Geniuses. EG comes in winning 2 straight games while MIBR comes in winning 3 out of their last 5 games. EG is ranked #7 in the world while MIBR is ranked #24 so based on the rankings and Vegas odds, you’d think this could be a blowout but recent play would tell you otherwise.
Evil G. is led by the tandem of Brehze and CeRq. They both possess 50-kill upside but also find themselves teetering right above the 1 K/D ratio. Tarik does have kill upside but he has also found himself in matches where he has found himself well below the 1 K/D ratio which makes him a risky GPP play.
For MIBR, Fer let us down yesterday with 9 more deaths than kills (49 kills: 58 deaths) but could have a nice bounce-back game. KNgV is +31 in the kill/ death ratio department over his last 3 games so he is in great form and should be looked at for any MIBR stack that you look to make. FalleN is the last guy to consider as he is one of the more consistent players on this team and could be viewed as a cash game play if looking to get exposure from MIBR. This will be the most competitive game of the day and could also be a good game stacking candidate for tournaments!
Evil G.(K/D Ratio)
- Brehze 1.23 (52 % headshot)
- Cerq 1.15
- Ethan 1.15
- Stanislaw .97
- Tarik 1.05
MIBR (K/D Ratio)
- FalleN 1.08
- -kNgV 1.04
- Fer 1.04
- Meyern .81
- TACO .79
