ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe
Best of 3 Series
- Natus Vincere vs MIBR
- Team Liquid vs FaZe
Captain Plays:
S1mple is coming off an absolutely dominant performance at BLAST Premier Global Final 2020, capped off by a whopping 1.57 rating in the grand finals against Astralis. (Unsurprisingly) S1mple is the highest-priced player on the slate but with the hugest upside on the slate, he's well worth paying up for in this situation. S1mple is going to be chalky, but playing him at captain guarantees him to set your team at a high floor.
Elige was North America's highest player in HLTV's Top 20 list for 2020 at #8, and he will look to build on a strong start to 2021 as he aims for a 5th straight year on the list. Even after going through a recent line-up change Elige has stayed consistent, with a rating of 1.08 compared to his career rating of 1.09. His opponents, FaZe, are in a bit of a transition period themselves currently, and being the most consistent player on the favored team puts him in a position for big upside.
Other captain plays: NAF, electronic, broky
Value Plays:
Twistzz is making his debut for FaZe in this game, after moving from his old team, Team Liquid. Twistzz was reportedly unhappy with his support role he was playing towards the end of his Team Liquid tenure, and he should be freed up to play more of a superstar role in this current version of FaZe. FaZe is reportedly waiting until March due to contract situations to bring in a new IGL (in-game leader) so FaZe's strategy probably won't be more complicated than "everyone go frag". Twistzz could be the biggest beneficiary of a more hectic series, especially since he's extra familiar with his opposition. Also, as I mentioned earlier - it's a revenge game (if you're like me and you buy that type of thing)
perfecto has been in solid form over the last month as he has accrued a 1.09 rating, and actually was surprisingly 2nd in rating in Navi's grand final series at BLAST Premier Global Final 2020. Navi is a heavy heavy favorite over this inexperienced MIBR lineup, and with Perfecto currently boasting the lowest deaths-per-round (.58) on Navi. Perfecto could easily end up with the lowest number of deaths in the whole series between both teams, and that gives him a really solid floor/ceiling combination. He also should be an obvious piece of Navi stacks.
Other value plays: flamie, broky, Fallen
Top Stacks/ Team Picks:
Navi has a dream matchup against a MIBR team that is 35 spots lower in the world ranking than them. As if that wasn't enough, MIBR also has a newer roster with a player who has played less than 5 official matches with the roster. MIBR is easily the worst team in this group (maybe in this whole event honestly), and Navi should have no issues handling the Brazilians by a score of 2-0.
Team Liquid / FaZe is shaping up to be a street fight in my eyes. With Liquid still trying to adapt to their new roster, and FaZe seemingly on cruise control until they can make another roster move, there is a lot of potential for a frantic, back-and-forth series. I think picking and choosing your spots in this match-up will be the key to the slate, since Navi will be chalky top to bottom.
