The Houston Texans had a disappointing 2022 season. They ended the year with a 3-13-1 record.
Houston tied the Indianapolis Colts 20-20 in Week 1. Then the Texans lost 11 of their next 12 matchups, with the only win coming over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, 13-6.
However, the Texans won two of their final three games last season. Their 32-31 win over the Colts in Week 18 gave the Chicago Bears the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Houston slid to the No. 2 draft slot. Unfortunately for the Texans, the Bears traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers for a bounty of draft capital last month.

Could The Texans Trade Out Of The No. 2 Pick?
The blockbuster trade between Chicago and Carolina has made things complicated in Houston. NFL Network’s Peter Schrager says the Texans aren't a lock to draft a quarterback with the second overall pick unless they love Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.
Over the past few weeks, the rumor mill has been on fire. One of those rumors is that the Texans are willing to trade out of the No. 2 pick. If they only love Young and he gets drafted by the Panthers, the Texans could trade out of their draft spot.
Houston has the 12th overall pick and could draft a quarterback with that selection. Furthermore, the Texans will have two first-round picks again next year. The team could pass on a quarterback this year and hope to land Caleb Williams in 2024. If the Texans decide to trade away the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, they will have plenty of potential suitors.
Who Could The Texans Target If They Keep The No. 2 Pick?
However, fans shouldn’t believe everything they hear right now. The draft is just over two weeks away, and everyone is lying. Meanwhile, the Texans will do their homework on both quarterbacks. After months of mock drafts, it’s hard to believe Houston won’t select a quarterback with the second overall pick.
The one wild card in this situation is Alabama’s, Will Anderson. The star edge rusher is the top prospect in the draft and could be an option for the Texans if they keep the No. 2 overall pick. New head coach DeMeco Ryans was the defensive coordinator in San Francisco last year and saw the impact Nick Bosa had on the defense.
