ANALYSIS: I'm reasonably confident that a majority of baseball fans have no idea who Cory Spangenberg is, but fantasy owners have certainly taken notice. It's been hard not to, considering that the Padres' Swiss Army knife has hit four home runs and totaled 16 R+RBI in the last four days. That offensive onslaught has brought his second-half line to a robust .333/.408/.604 with seven homers and 50 R+RBI just 31 games. It's little wonder that he's among the most popular adds on both Yahoo and ESPN in recent days.
While this power surge is unlikely to persist, Spangenberg is clearly feeling himself at the plate right now. With a hot bat and eligibility at three positions, he's exactly the sort of player that you should be looking to add as we enter the stretch run.
