Cordarrelle Patterson (WR, CHI) - Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Cordarrelle Patterson has played in all five Chicago's games so far this season. He is the wide receiver with the most rushing attempts (21) through TNF game against the Bucs, but chances are even if I don't update this post he will retain that honor as the second-highest mark is Curtis Samuel's 11 attempts. Patterson won't win you the leagues, sure, but how many players offer two-for-one upside in the shape of a RB/WR combo?

Patterson's season numbers aren't incredible on a counting basis, but if looked at on a snap-by-snap basis they improve a lot. Patterson has only been on the field for 61 snaps, which makes his 19.7 PPR points over the year come out at an average of 0.32 PPR per snap. That ranks 14th among WR with at least 60 snaps played this season. Not bad for someone who will play more as we get deeper into the year now that Tarik Cohen is done for the season.

On low volume, Patterson will give you an average of around 4 rushing attempts per game to go with a couple or 3 targets of which he will probably catch all (check downs, mostly). As a hybrid, Patterson has shown upside on both passing and rushing plays. His season-best rushing is at 25 yards on 7 attempts (W2) and he just posted his best receiving game of the season this past Thursday (3-of-3, 38 yards).

It's not that Patterson will finish with those highs every week, but if he plays to some reasonable levels it's not crazy to see him averaging 10 PPR points per game weekly with the chance at reaching higher ceilings if he gets to score a TD eventually. Not the worst FLEX play for deep-league GMs.
